Resort Counter Service! Any Hidden gems?

Hey,
We are trying to find a few Counter Service restaurants outside of the parks that are worth trying for our trip in October.
Any tips would be great,

In DTD there is Wolfgang Puck Express....that food is YUMMMMMMM and if you are going to be on the dining plan its an excellent deal. Even if you aren't on the plan the food is awesome! Also Earl of Sandwhich in DTD. Those would be my top two suggestions Have a great trip!!

The Riverside Mill foodcourt at POR. They have a create your own pasta station and a create your own salad station, as well as the traditional offerings. So good!

I am also a fan of the Pop Century food court. They have lots of good choices, plus tye-died cheesecake for dessert!

Our next trip, we are going to try Mara(CS) at AKL. A few friends of mine suggested it, and you can get a break from the parks for a while.

I agree about DTD's WPE and Earl of Sandwich. They are both wonderful. WPE is like eating at a TS and the food is excellent.

Artist's Palette at Saratoga Springs Resort has a fantastic hot and cold selection. Most everything is made fresh to order. They have flatbread pizzas to die for. They will happily customize any hot or cold entree or sandwich also - so don't think you are stuck picking out ingredients that you may not care for.

We absolutely loved the Pepper Market @ CSR- large area with extremely good food. They do charge 10% gratuity for service, but other than that its excellent.

In addition to create your own salad and create your own pasta stations at Riverside Mill, they have a carving station in the evening. You can get turkey, or roast beef with mashed potatoes, vegetables, corn bread. Plus your drink and dessert. It's a really great use of a counter service for a "real dinner" not necessarily more fast food options.

I'm not really sure Flame Tree counts as a "hidden" gem. That's one of the most popular cs in all of Disney.

Iam going to keep a list for my next trip of all the Restaurants so we do not crazy trying to pick one. It takes hours deciding on which one and not sure if its good.

My favorite resort hidden gem is The Contempo Cafe at CR. I had one of the best sandwiches here and the black forest cupcake was delish!! My daughter enjoyed the flat bread pizza and the dirt and worms dessert!

I agree with the DTD choices, but I don't think I would go to another resort just for a counter service meal, unless you really just enjoy checking out the resorts.

How about the CS suggested at the Poly and then head down to the beach to watch the electric water pageant and wishes?

Cap'n cooks at the poly is a great CS option , easy to get to by monorail, the Aloha Pork Sandwich is FABULOUS, made with the same pork from the Luau, and you can get Dole Whip for Dessert!!

Also on the monorail as mentioned is the great Contempo Cafe, Delicious Cupcakes (Black forest, and Dolce de leche) The sandwiches are good be the Flat breads are AWESOME!

we too love WPE @ DTD, breakfast and dinner, great salmon, super breakfast pizza, cornflake french toast, and my new favorite this year, the terrific omelette, tomatoes, etc!

I really like Yakitori House. Haven't been to Earl of Sandwich, but it sounds pretty good too.

Go to Downtown Disney do a bit of shopping when they open up and then go to Earl of Sandwich. This was the best counter service meal i had the whole trip (all meals were good but this was the best). The sandwiches are excellent all on fresh hot crispy bread, I had the Hawaiian chicken sandwich with chicken, ham slices, pineapple, & BBQ sauce. There was a
nice variety of desserts, i had a big round double decker brownie with peanut butter in the middle. My girls had a yummy round cake with sprinkles for their dessert.
I think the quality & quantity of this meal was the best use of my counter service the whole trip. I was on free dining plan and definitely enjoyed it.
