Resort Christmas Decorations

DEFINITELY! Last year, on the Travel Channel I think, there was a show on devoted to Disney & the resorts at Xmas-WOW! Did anyone else see it? I hope they repeat it this year. GREAT WL photos; when we stayed there a few years ago I kept thinking to myself, "I bet this place looks amazing at Christmas."

Someone else asked this here, but didn't get an answer yet-- when do they start putting up the Christmas decorations? I am hoping they are up when we are there for T-Day (and into the next week!)

Thanks!

Most will be completed before Thanksgiving:thumbsup2

When are the decorations taken down? I will be arriving on Jan 1st and would love to see them.

mzliza we cant wait to go either the decorations are getting me in such a christmas mood. Like I need an excuse my hubby says. We'll be at POP also but seeing what WL looks like i'd love to stay there.

I have been to Disney at Christmas time for the last ten years - it is truly spectacular and to me the most Magical time of the year:santa:. Friends of mine went in mid-November last year and said most of the decorations were already up by then and everything is up for the entire week of Thanksgiving. The WL is my favorite and this thread has just wet my whisle as I can't wait. The GF is also very nice with the life size gingerbread house. Most of the deluxes are worth visiting and I also like the RV decorations at the campgrounds. The parks also have special events during this time of year, so don't miss the Candlelight Processional and Holidays Around the World at EP, Osborne Family Spectacle of Lights at MGM, and tree lighting ceremonies at 6:00 every night at the each park with caroling and characters. Each park and resort has their own style of Christmas decorations so it really is a treat. Have a great vacation!!:santa:

I hope they repeat it as well. We tape every Disney special known to man, and at the beginning of the year, our old DVR went on the fritz and I lost EVERYTHING!!! I was so upset. :sad2: That one was one of my favorites!!!

What kind of decorations does the CR have at Christmas??? Does anyone have any pictures???

I had a few of the CR. They usually place about 7 foot Christmas trees scattered around near entrances and exits and wreaths in those area also. The have a huge outdoor Christmas tree in front of the resort. Sorry I couldn't locate my pics.:confused3

After about 4 years in a row in Dec, I have to agree that Disney is cutting back. BW used to have the most remarkable lobby display...a boardwalk with rollar coaster, Santa in the rollar coaster. All the deluxe resorts are worth seeing. But, last year there was nothing at the Polynesian, and the year before that, their display almost looked like it was an afterthought. For some reason, I seem to remember that there was nothing at AKL either. There had been one, down by the entrance to Boma, but I don't remember seeing it last year, but I could be wrong.
I love checking out the Christmas displays...so, this is how I do it. I head to MK then hop on the monorail, and check out the CR, then the Polynesian, then GF (which is incredible!!). Then, I head for WL...so warm and Christmasy in there. Then I head to a park. When I'm at Epcot, I like to head to BW (where I can usually be found staying at), then over to YC/BC. Even the S/D are beautiful. AKL is beautiful as well.
The moderates are terrific, so if you can squeeze a visit in for them, fine. Everytime I see those photos from CSR I just want to pick up the phone and book a stay there!!!!

I have some info on my site if you click on the Resorts link. I have some pics as well of the Holiday items at the resorts.

We will usually go to all the resorts to check out the decorations.
