It's been a couple of years since we've stayed at an offsite resort... I've done some research, but am looking to my DIS friends for some advice! :)

Cost per week is exactly the same for each of these resorts, so price is not a factor. We are a family of 5 (mom & dad, 3 kids: 17, 11, & 5) booking a 2BR unit. We will have a car, and while we are doing some Disney this trip, we are also planning at least one day trip to the beach and doing a fair share of hanging out at the resort.

I've narrowed our choices down to the following resorts:
Vistana Villages
Summer Bay Resort (condo, not villa)
Fairfield Orlando at Cypress Palms
Bryan's Spanish Cove (it's actually a little cheaper)

I'm seriously leaning towards Vistana Villages... but would love to hear any comments (good or bad) about any or all of the resorts I've listed.

thanks :)

Of those you mentioned, we've only stayed at Vistana Villages and it was very nice. It is fairly new--maybe 5 years old--and the pool is very nice. We've not been back though, since we tend to stay at the Marriott Vacation Clubs, which you should also consider.

VV is definitely the newest

one part of SUmmer bay does not have a balcony - if these are those units forget it.

don't have alot of information on the Fairfield - will look for you.

Bryan's Spanish Cove use to come up on skyauction so some disers stay there. Not great - I think they rated it middle of the road - some would stay again if the price was right (skyauction). others would not at any price. It was so small.

It does have the best location to visit WDW. but probably not enough stuff to kept your family best on the off days.

We rent condo weeks through www.afvclub.com and www.govarm.com, so we are limited to our choices. It's been years since I've seen a Marriott at a reasonable price (for our travel week) on either of those sites. For a week at the resorts I listed, it will cost $389/week for the 2BR unit.

Spicey - you confirmed what I thought I remembered about Bryan's. I didn't think it was a resort I wanted to consider, but wanted to make sure. LOL

With Summer Bay, the unit I'm looking at is definitely in the condo section, which generally gets higher praise than the villas. At least that's how it used to be?

thanks for the input :)
