resort check in for cruise

I am spending 7 days in WDW before 5 of our group of 12 are transfering to the cruise. I was under the impression that when we checked into our resort we would also be checked into the cruise. I was just told that the day of the cruise we need to go to the wilderness lodge to check into the cruise desk. Has anyone had to do this? Is is simple? How early do we need to get there? Can I check in earlier in my trip? I was told this is how we have to do this because we booked everything seperate not as a package.


I posted this on the resort board to but no hits so far. Help

Uhhh. I don't even think WL is participating in anything related to crusiing anymore. They dumped it and added AK as the substitute deluxe resort.

As for checking in ahead of time, I know people booked through DCL have their KTTW checked in at the hotel for BOTH portions--land and sea.

If you booked it separately, I would guess you would check in at the terminal in Port Canaveral?

You must be using DCL transfers from WDW to the port. That would be the reason for needing to check in "somewhere" on property - and it would be just to transport you and your luggage to the ship.

Since you booked the WDW part of your trip and you booked the Cruise part of your trip seperatly (not the 7 night land/sea package) you will have to check in at the port with all of your paperwork (it's no big deal really - pretty simple and quick).

Oh so this is just to transfer? That I can handle. How early do you have to go or can go. Will they tell us when we check into the resort when to report to the transfer location? I was hoping since we are spending so much we might get a upgrade on the cabin , do I have to go there to request one?
