We have been to WDW several times, but this year we are sharing a 2 bedroom with another family (my in-laws). When setting up the credit card to use for check in at the resort, does this affect the credit card linked to the Magic bands for purchases outside the resort? I am thinking it doesn’t, but I can’t figure out what we would purchase at the resort that would be “charged to the room” and not to the card saved to the Magic band.

You cannot save a card to your MagicBand. Any charges that you make with the MB will go on your room account. It's possible to set up separate credit cards associated with individual MBs once you arrive at the resort. However, there are times that charges get debited to the wrong credit card, so you need to keep track of them.

Other resort charges that would not be generated via the MB would be overnight parking (if staying on a cash reservation) or additional cleaning requests (if staying on DVC points).

I never realized dining was being charged to the room and not the credit card on file in MDE. We only have 1 credit card so we have always used the same one for MDE and check-in.

. Technically, the charges go into your room portfolio and are then charged in one transaction to your credit card at approximately 1 or 2 am on your check out day.

Mobile Order charges made using the MDE app are charged directly to your credit card. They do not go to your resort room account.

We were there in May. Had 5 of us in a 2 Bedroom at BWV. Went to the front desk and they were able to connect our Magic Bands to the credit card for that person. We had 4 different cards connected and it worked just fine for us. We all went down to the desk - she swiped each band and then added the correct credit card to it. We did this right away when we got there.
