Canceled 4th night of our stay to go home early (checking out today instead of tomorrow). It wouldn't work online or by phone with cast member last week. I couldn't remove a night, it kept trying to find a new 3 night reservation. Was told to cancel it upon arrival at front desk. So I did. I was charged arrival day for 4 nights. Then we checked out today. We were charged today for 3 nights! So almost double charged and there's no pending credit! Way to go disney. They slammed my bank account

It is like this with most hotels now. I tried to remove a night at Hilton and also dolphin and had no luck. It only works if the rooms are still available at same price point to rebook. I lost a great rate at Hilton bonnet creek because of this. I was very frustrated and sad. I spent a long time on the phone and got nowhere. Ended up canceling full stay.

What a nightmare and So Unacceptable. It’s not like Disney is a two bit dive motel off the beaten path. Now you ll likely be on a call for a long time to get it resolved.
Nightmare indeed!
Best of luck OP!

Universal hotels have been this way for years. Changing your reservation loses your rate lock and is treated like a new booking.

I'll sometimes book part of my stay as separate booking to preserve flexibility.

Edited to add Disney hold times are unacceptable. You might need to file a dispute.

I don't blame you one bit! My credit better be there tomorrow. I budgeted carefully for this trip. And that extra grand they owe me sure wasn't in the budget

Yep. When I called last week, the first hour waited for a cast member. Then when I finally got one, and she couldn't help me, she said she had to ask someone else for help, and she had me on hold another hour. Then, after 2 hours total... she couldn't help anyway. Very frustrating. I live 2 hours away, so my husband said we should just start going for day trips for a while, and drive home the same day. The whole experience isn't quite as magical anyhow. Disney+ didn't even work on my phone. Had to go to front desk to have them override that too. And they couldn't charge it to the room. Had to go back to the room, back to front desk to give them my actual credit card! Never again for genie+ either.

While they shouldn't have double charged you, I'm pretty sure you have had to cancel a reservation and rebook another if you wanted to add or delete days for years now at Disney. It has to do with how they charge per night, discounts, etc. You were most certainly given bad advise by the CM who told you to wait until you got there and do it at the front desk, although I have had luck in the past adding a day at the front desk but had to move rooms. If you don't get a credit back within a day or two, I'd dispute the charge on my cc and at least that way you would get your ability to use that credit.

Yes, the CM on the phone said they couldn't cancel and rebook because there was no availability. I didn't even have a discount applied. I was paying rack rate at french quarter. The front desk should have credited the 4 nights when they were charging me for the new reservation. They should know that, as I am not the first person who ever wanted to modify the reservation to remove a night. Sure goes smoothly when a night is added! Lol. Hopefully I'll get it resolved on Monday

Because your rate was based on you original length of stay. All hotels do this. You can’t book at “x” rate for y days and then take off days without it changing the price

MDE will not let me cancel a future trip. Is anyone e;se having this issue?

I was having the same issue, even though the cancel button was there. I had to call in and cancel it. Luckily my wait was only like 20 minutes and the CM was able to cancel it quickly.
