Resort Changers--The Saga Continues.....

We're continuosly switching resorts!

Upcoming trip now, that's it, no more switching!

We originally were doing 2 nights Movies, 4 Pop, 1 CR and 1 AKL. (yes, we love split stays!)
Now... 1 night Sports, 1 night Beach Club, 4 Pop, 1 Poly and 1 Movies. phew!
Excited to stay at BC and Poly. Gotta end the trip at Movies, is a sentimental favorite for us.
Yes, is a lot of switching resorts. Usually we do 6-7 night stays and 3 resorts. But over 4th of July, will be hot and crowded and looking forward to breaks at new resorts. Wanted BC for the pool. Originally had CR - but realized no kiddie pool, so went with Poly for the zero entry, plus always wanted to stay there! AKL we ditched unfortunately - though great pool there, but figured 3 deluxes would be too much for us. Instead on our last day before our DME picks us up, will take a cab from Movies to head over to Boma for breakfast and spend a little time at AKL then.

Our March trip - Pop, POFQ and Movies... originally had CBR in there for a day, switched that to another night at POFQ about 2 weeks before we arrived!

Every trip is like this for us. Yes, I suppose it's a bit crazy, but it works for us. Some nights are room only... some are deluxe dining.

Now working on our Thanksgiving trip. All I know for sure is our last night is at WL and first 4 nights at Pop. Not sure where night #5 of our trip will be yet. Have BC booked, but am torn between there and POFQ or finally trying CR, and still want to squeeze our sentimental Movies in there for a night... Thinking I need to add on an extra day!

Last night I called to try to change my Poly LV room to GV CL. I figured the difference would be under $200. The CM told me there were no more GV CL discounted rooms left and it would cost me $1,300 to change - forget it! This am I went on line and was able to reserve a Poly GV CL room for a difference of under $200 so I called and spoke to a CM who told me my LV room had been changed back to a GV. I told her the CL rooms were available on line and she changed my reservation to GV CL for under $200 difference. I also discovered they gave me non-expiring park hopper tickets which I didn't want. The other night when I called for the 40% discount the guy barely spoke English. When I have to press 1 for English I expect someone to talk English back!

Hi everyone. Can I join? I am not actually a resort changer - I am a resort can't make up my minder (does that count?). The reason being is that I will probably be renting DVC points again, so I have to figure out the resort in advance. Here is what I have so far:

1. We go every other year to Disney. Last 2 times we rented DVC Points from the same DVC Member and she said I could rent some for our next trip. We are going in March 2011. Last time we stayed at AKL the time before we stayed at BWV. Loved them both. Before that all stays were at values.

2. So, now to decide where to stay this time. I have it narrowed down to 5 places. We are staying for 8 nights.

3. Here are the costs and my choices.

AKL - Std $1340 or Club $1770
Loved this resort, but did just stay there last time. Pool was awesome. Loved the food court and the busses were great.

BLT - Std $1610 or Lake View $1770
Never stayed on a monorail resort before so that would be cool. The charm isn't as cool as other resorts. Like that it has a food court at Contempory. (I have to have my fountain pop)

BC - Std $1560
Never stayed here before. Pool looks awesome but also hard to keep track of the kids. Though they will be older (12 and 9). No food court though. But, really close to Epcot and DHS.

BWV - Std $1270 or Preferred $1530
Stayed here 3 years ago. Loved the resort and the area. Kids liked the scary clown pool. Had a Boardwalk view and it was awesome. Lots of fun things to do. No food court and have to go to Bakery or Pool to fill mugs.

The other one I was looking at was CSR. I have never stayed at a Mod Resort before but this was looks awesome to me. The pool looks great and they have a food court and lots of places to fill mugs. But, it would cost the same or mor than one of the deluxes above. Approx $1630 for Std or $1845 for Preffered plus tax. Unless a promo comes out - but would not know on that til probably late fall or early winter.

I have the airfare already and cannot book DVC til August at the 7th Month Mark. I know that alot depends on availability at that point also but the last 2 times we booked at the 7 month mark and got what we wanted.

So, any input on my choices would be most appreciated. My DH and kids are of no help. Thanks Everyone. Lynn

 I am so grateful for this thread - we do this all the time - Our fist visit ever to disney we booked it 3 days befor our trip - probably how we should book all of them - We stayed 6 nights at CR for a great rate in Aug 2009! However, since we have played the change resort game -booked March 2010 and changed the dates twice and the resort twice - This time booked for August 2010 originally with CR then changed to WL and the very next day we booked WL we changed to POLY. I feel bad everytime I call the travel agent but she's great and just laughs and says "It's no problem" Thank goodness she will put up with our Disney Resort Insanity!!!!!!

Ok - all I have to say about this is Yikes! :scared1: I would never be able to keep track of my trip if I did one like yours! :faint:

My hats off to you. :goodvibes

Switched back to all 6 nights at Pop...I think, as the CM seemed somewhat confused.
I'm disappointed to be giving up AKL, but think this is the best decision.
At least for now....:rotfl:

Nothing wrong with pop. We are staying AKL I'm worried I will miss POP. How sad is that? But we really do need deluxe this year as my kids go to bed my 8 or 9 pm and I don't. So the balconey comes in handy. Plus we are going for 10 days and I don't want to loose my mind. I love pop but the rooms are a tad small.

Our first trip was at Pop and we had such a good time. I kind of miss it there too.

So right now I'm thinking maybe a CBR/POR split (or maybe Pop/Poly split.:thumbsup2) But I'm not sure I'll like a split stay. I'll have to do everything twice. :goodvibes

We don't do split stays to much of a hassle for us. I like to unpack and stay put.
Our pop reservation with free QSDP and 10 myw base ticket was 1675.00
AKL pool view bunkbeds 1769.00 still need to figure out if we want to add the QSDP to this or not. We really don't need a one day ticket we have so many we need to use. I'm thinking just paying out of pocket for food since there is 2-4 ts meals we want to do.

I'm just so use to having a package and having everything included. I think it has been since we stayed at WL we haven't had a package.

This is great, I thought I was alone in my resort changing craziness. So here goes. I booked CSR for 5 nights in July with the 35% off code with one day MYW tickets and QSDP. I called to see what the price would be to upgrade to Poly. Was surprised to hear the difference would be only $450 for the week so we decided to upgrade. Then we decided to do HDD so we decided to upgrade to DDxP because our son just loves to eat and we could do a couple signature dinners. Then talking with a co-worker she said we should go to the SOA but at this point all our nights were booked up. So we decided to add another day to our package and we could go to the luau for dinner. Our once "let's go because we finally got a pin code and it won't be too expensive trip" is now getting up there in price. Then we realized we will be at Disney a day early (due to my mis-calculation) so we decided the first night of our stay we will spend it at POFQ, here we go again, another reservation. Then we decided since we will be there early we might as well add the dining plan for the day, take the boat to DTD and have dinner there.

Now our "not so expensive trip" is really expensive so last night I was thinking maybe we should switch to CSR and I won't feel so guilty. My DH thinks I am absolutely crazy and will not let me call Disney anymore. Uggghhh!!!!

I think I'm pretty set on my resort now. I only owe 150.00 on my reservation after that is paid thinking of adding the one day ticket and the QSDP. We don't want alot of adr's this year we are there for 10 days but still doing 3 ts meals so we are probably better to pay out of pockets. I'm just package addicted I guess. That is why I have all these darn tickets I need to use. I keep buying packages adding the non-expirey option and the cycle continues. I did good last year and only added the 1 day to get the free dining. But that was are second trip last year so tried to keep cost down. This year only one trip so I figure if we spend more so be it.

So are you still at POP?

Too funny! Pretty soon all of those upgrades and extras really add up - don't they. Even with the Disney Math you still end up paying a bundle on a trip. :goodvibes

We have BWI CL (still) and are now thinking of using the DVC points we have for Poly instead of BWV. How ridiculous is that! :rotfl2:

Still at Pop for tonight...:rotfl:

Saw that a standard room is open at AKL, which might fit better into aunties budget. Hmmm

Well you could always switch with KELLY. :rotfl:

You two make me want to switch to POP! :goodvibes

Okay, I have my date down now. We arrive 8/26 and we are checking out 9/3! I don't get to keep my LeCellier reservation even though our flight doesn't leave until 9:08!!! My LeCellier is on 9/3 at 7:10 and we are taking the M/E. I am trying to get LeCellier for the 26th instead. :confused3 I don't mind changing resorts but dining changes are not my cup of tea (pun intended) :goodvibes Anywhooo, since we are now 9 days 8 nights, I am SURE we will not be doing BC.....um......not SURE sure but pretty much sure. I MAY, however switch to AKL pv with bb and that may happen either today or tomorrow....stay tuned.

DIS MEET DIS MEET DIS MEET! :yay:

Pretty much anything makes me want to switch :goodvibes. I was on the GF sight earlier.......cough, cough:sick: Sneaked on over to check the prices :scared1: back to reality.....:goodvibes

I've been looking at the GF on the WDW website for the last few days. It's in the budget $$ and I could also get it on points. :rolleyes1

Just wanted to say hi! I'll be at AKL (one night) on 9/3, before going to the dark side (US). If you switch, maybe I can pass you in the hallway:rotfl:!

Okay, that can be my reason to switch. I can tell my DH, "singinglizzie wants to do a DIS meet at AKL......only we're at WL sooo.." :lmao:
We wanted to go to US this year too. The tickets have gone waaaayyy up from last year. We have done a split trip for the past 2 years with 3 days/2 nights at Royal Pacific before Disney. Thought about it this year......still thinking....DH wants to stay 1 night. Since we have a 6:30 a.m flight, this would give us 2 whole days, one for each park and we can check into Disney on the 27th in the evening. Gotta work on the details.

Glad you have your dates down! :goodvibes we'll be there 8-24 to 8-31.

DIS meet it is!! I'll meet you at GF, make sure you book CL so you can bring some snacks.........into the lobby. That's about all I could do at GF this trip.

 I'll be in disguise and you can sneak me into the lounge :cool2:

:lmao:

I will be coming down 10/18-10/23 to the wilderness lodge! I am hoping to get some pixie dust thrown my way so I can upgrade to my home away from home-the Polynesian!
