Resort Changers--The Saga Continues.....

Went in Dec stayed at BC, trip was magical at Christmas, so this trip has to be a budget trip because we were "just" there and we usually don't go 2 times in one year.

This trip 1st ressie was at BC because that is our favorite, but that isn't really budget, so DH made me switch to 2 rooms at CBR, then decided that isn't really budget either so changed to 2 rooms at POP, added one night to the trip before package starts. Then came home from work one day and said I know that isn't where you want to stay and this trip needs to be special too. (DD birthday celebration) book the POLY and be done. Oh and change that first night to CR. So much for the budget. However we are getting FD and Free Flights

How fast do you think I was on the phone getting that done, can't change now trip is PIF.

Okay.....just back from house hunting AGAIN. This market is crazy People are in a panic and sometimes the bids on housing go crazy. I think we are happy now with our choice. Good home, nice yard, GREAT schools, wonderful amenities (pool, clubhouse, gated community) all very good....closing before we go to Disney.....PRICELESS :yay

DISNEYBRIDE.....I got a huge laugh at you for disguising your "dilemma" as a "friend's" delemma. The first thing I said was "tween, toddler....this is DIANNA!!! . I'd go for CS with the queen beds and great price and wonderful pool by the way.

Leeann, I was just sitting here thinking of requesting. I thought so hard about it that I'm thinking about switching to OKW even though we are all paid for. It would just be a lateral move BUT the rooms are larger and it is closer to Epcot. Got my Disney Magical Express tags this past week-end and thought DD is far from everything else...... Anyone care to comment!

Went from 5 days AKL room only - to 5 days ALK with FREE DINING - changed this twice for dates (added 2 then took them away) - then yesterday rebooked the whole thing under an AP rate. (and all of this has "special reservations" for Disabilities...those poor people are going to kill me.)

In the midst of all of this, decided to go to Disney for the weekend for the DIS meets in December (right before this trip listed above)...so I booked 4 nights at the POP - changed that to 5 when I decided I wanted to be there all day Friday - changed again to FD when I got the PIN - changed AGAIN yesterday for AP rates to BWI - but got resortitis and decided I really wanted WL...and just like a good Disney Mathematician - upgraded to the WL for those 5 nights!!!!!

Now how did Disney have me part with that much money over the past 4 months???

Goodness.

I need help. Maybe this isn't the right thread??

Ok...so after reading this thread a little more....

I am new to this Disney thing...really...this is my first on site Disney ressie that I have changed...enough times to have....9...reservation numbers...

What is PIF? How many days to I have to change stuff? Before they start charging my credit card MORE money?

I have decided I like room only ressies...because they can be changed up to 5 days in advance.

I am so glad I have a club of people that understand. I think even my pre-trippie people are like...."Just tell us when it is OVER! "

Well, as you can imagine, I'm actually skipping up and down the hallways today. We got an offer to upgrade, and I switched in a heartbeat. My budgie trip at the Pop, has now been upgraded for free, courtesy of our favorite mouse, to Old Key West. Still pinching myself. I knew you all would understand my excitement. I mean, I so desperately wanted to switch, but it was all about the $$$. Now I can travel in the style I have been accustomed to!!! Ahhh - ya got to love Disney!!!!

Very happy for you singinglizzie. I'm with Leeann though with the "looking for upgrades." I could use a "rebate" for the dough we're shelling out....(or atleast an upgrade to BCV....). C'mon BCV upgrade.......

I missed the OKW window...but am very happy to say I will be staying in a DVC Studio at SSR!!

Last month I did a triple split stay, POP-CSR-BC.
Found CSR to be VERY nice if you want to go mod!! Wow, the rooms are closest to deluxe & what a pool area!

Here is my (long) story:
ORIGINAL PLAN:
10/23-10/31 BWV 2 bedroom BW view, booked exactly at the 11 month window, was to be a special trip taking my 84 yr old Dad using extra points from last year's DVC contract with banked points. All was well, until...

2 weeks ago, Dad's plans change, have to move his flight a day later, he arrives late on 10/24. Our 10/23 flight is "adjusted" by NWA, unfortunately the computer actually believed that we could catch a flight that departs Detroit 30 minutes before we were scheduled to arrive...hmmm. Spend one hour on the phone, we are switched to an early morning flight (which means one more work vacation day required, kids miss 1 more school day , but: longer day at WDW so I'm happy! )

So then I realize we don't need to use all those points for a 2 bedroom when it's just the kids and me...so I drop Friday and Saturday and debate where to stay those two nights. Lots of time is spent checking availability, comparing rates and watching the Codes & Rates thread...a believe a fortune teller may also have been consulted as to when those AP rates would be released. I actually waitlisted a studio at BLT (yeah, like that's going to happen)...and 2 weeks fly by while I worry about closing in on the magical 90 mark...

THEN AP RATES ARE RELEASED!!! A mad scramble ensues, fingers are flying over keys, head is hurting, drawers are searched for lost or hidden Disney Dollars that might just appear...

The money conscious moderate in me says: "book POR, it's $99 a night and you can add QSDP for less than a deluxe". So I listen to that person and book POR. Yet, somewhere inside this voice is saying, but about the great 40% off deals for the deluxes? I tell that voice to be quiet, I have bills to pay and my car needs new tires...

All is well (for a day!) until I share my plans over dinner with my DH (who is not going since "It's hunting season... or, "Who will watch the dog?", or some other excuse he came up with(DH obviously tolerates but does not share my Disney addiction) tells me he would feel better if we stayed at an Epcot resort..."What, " I ask, innocently, "Like maybe Boardwalk Inn?" "Sure, that way you don't have to go very far to check in on Sunday"...was his response and POOF, that person who questioned the cost of the deluxe went away and by midnight we were reserved for BWI Club Level (Standard) using the great AP rate. I am so excited!!!!

But inside, the voice is saying: maybe I should keep checking...

I would stay there in Dec but really have to make it budget...so I am happy with POP

You have lots going on....DIsney will always be there, especially the resorts....as long as you are in Disney

I now have 3 nights at OKW and 1 night AKL for our Sept. trip, both are studios. I hadn't planned on OKW, but was lucky enough to get the upgrade. My dilemna now is whether I should keep the split/last night at AKL or switch that last night to OKW so we dont have to move. The trip is for My Sis, and she doesn't know about AKL, as that was gonna be a surprise. I cant gauge what would work for her without actually telling her - she is not an uber planning, disney aholic like me , in fact almost gets annoyed with me when I ramble on about the details - really some people. What would you do????
