Resort Changers--The Saga Continues.....

I feel a little silly right now:blush:. When I switched from the Poly to the WL, I assumed that magically my correspondence with the Poly IPO disappeared from their records. Why clog up their files with canceled guests' information?

When I switched back to the Poly last week, I needed to change an archery reservation (for about the 5th time:rolleyes1). Since I assumed the Poly IPO had lost track of me (they've never initiated contact with me), I emailed them the request today along with a question about whether they serve a caffeine-free soda in the lounge and whether my room request was in fact in the system.

Well, Craig emails me back (quickly and politely, BTW) saying that there are already "soda requests" on my behalf and their "Lounge Team" have been notified and will fulfill my request, and yes, my room requests has been verified (again;)). For the record, they were never "requests," only questions, but I'm very impressed with their willingness to fulfill my questions:laughing:.

You see, I didn't let on that I had once canceled the Poly. I sort of pretended like it was a new reservation, like I do when I call the WDTC and change. But now I know (and Karen mentioned this, too:thumbsup2) that the CMs know when you've changed. But I guess the Poly didn't, or does it take a lot longer for that info. to get to them?

So basically I sent the same type of email to them twice (April and today) and even though I canceled Poly once (in June) and rebooked a few days later, they still had everything in their records from April:upsidedow

I bet my file's been seriously flagged:sad2:

So, who likes my new ticker? :cloud9:
:hyper: I do, I do! It's fantastic. I feel better now that you have a ticker. Umm, has DBF seen your slider:rolleyes1. I think you should see if he notices it and takes the hint;).

When do we all start taking bets on how many times your ticker will change in the next 1 year and 4 mos.?:rotfl: Is it possible that Gramma might want to go back with you before DBF?

Since our trip is coming up soon, I've already been in slight panic mode because the post-next trip hasn't been booked yet. I already know I won't be booking the BB because it seems it's only good through 12/17:upsidedow. I even called yesterday because they sort of secretly released the booking code for the extension of the military room-only discount. It was really just a fact-finding mission for my thread::yes::, but my heart did start racing a little when I had to give her some December dates for her to be able to check on blackout dates so I could post those.

BTW, if anyone is eligible to use the military discount, they can currently book through 12/31. From 12/26-31 is priced at the highest rack rate of the year:scared1:.

I do the same thing! I need help with the ADR's usually. :upsidedow But this time it's a little different, I don't have many ADR's at all, and am planning to wing it for most of the trip. :) So far I only have Yak and Yeti, Teppen Edo for Ben's birthday dinner, and Jiko.

We never have a lot of ADR's either! We do fine - we either walk up or stop by one of the kiosks and ask them to check what's open for us and off we go!

To true about DH! I still have to get that DHDH thread started, especially now that I go moderator permission for one. :rotfl2:

A new thread?? :yay: What's a DHDH thread??? Sounds awfully interesting!:thumbsup2

So, who likes my new ticker? :cloud9:

So cute!! :bride:
Love it! Will this be your little secret/wishful thinking or will DBF notice? This is very exciting and I look forward to what unfolds with any ticker changes! :dance3:

WDWKOOK, you will have a post trip in the works in no time! Hmm... another ticker I will enjoy watching.:rolleyes1

Good Morning all! Hope it's not too hot in your neck of the woods today. 95 to 100 here. No melting allowed.:thumbsup2

Well after we check out of the BWI we are not planning to check-in right away at the Beach Club. We are planning to visit Downtown Disney for a few hours which is what we did last year during our CR/BWI split stay. I know if our room is not ready they can text us when it is, however assuming it's not we would rather get to Downtown Disney a lot faster and check-in later.

That's what we do to. We go to the new resort first and then off to DTD for the day. I'd rather do it that way rather than try to do a park day on a switching day.

You're really brave with the walk-ups, Karen. I've never been so bold and spontaneous at WDW:rotfl: (OC planner;))

No, DD didn't really have a good time. It was hot and there were hours of waiting around and she couldn't see very well. Watching it on CSPAN was more enjoyable. Neither DD nor DH are thrilled when they have to go to the White House, it's a lot of rigmarole.

Sometimes it pays to be. :goodvibes I just like to know that I can book what I want to when I want to off of the DDP, rather than feel that I have to book a ton of restaurants. And I've found that with the CL we don't eat out as much. :)

That too bad that DD didn't enjoy herself. I was at the White House a few times for tours, and once when I was a kid for the Easter Egg Hunt. It was a lot different back then, before all of the security. It's not really all that great of a tour anyway - the FBI building tour is a lot more fun IMO.

Well, Craig emails me back (quickly and politely, BTW) saying that there are already "soda requests" on my behalf and their "Lounge Team" have been notified and will fulfill my request, and yes, my room requests has been verified (again;)). :goodvibes Now that is good information to know! I thought you would get "zapped" from IPO's records once you switched. It's good to know that you don't, that way you don;t have to repeat yourself when you rebook. (Like I have a habit of doing :rolleyes1)

So, who likes my new ticker? :cloud9:

Nice ticker! Long way to wait, but nice ticker! Like the Mickey and Minnie characters on it ;)

A new thread?? :yay: What's a DHDH thread??? Sounds awfully interesting!:thumbsup2[/COLOR]

The thread will actually be called the DHDH/DHDW thread. It's for those of us unfortunates that have a spouse who's a DH (Disney Hater) and who puts crimps in our plans to visit the World. I figured it would be fun to start, and I got permission to post on the Theme Parks Community thread. :)

So, who likes my new ticker? :cloud9:

Hi. I'm new to thread. I couldn't see your ticker until I clicked on your avatar & then came back to thread. Odd. I thought you had some sort of "magical" ticker! :wizard:
Now that I see it, it is very pretty. And your date offers lots of time to plan, re-plan and change, change, change I see! Have fun with it!

I enjoyed your TR, and loved your Ch 6 pic of you and Daisy.

I'm loving this day off with Danimal and Lily! Danimal has off today so we all got to sleep in and relax this morning instead of the normal hustle and bustle. btw Danimal is DS' nickname. Last night I never even signed on to a computer at work because they were down. I pretty much got paid to use my iPad, eat dinner, and have an ice. Good night in my book! ;)

Yeah I know. What's really bad is they have 3 of us now (because of our girls trip:lovestruc) Not that I can't use the money, but I'm tired:surfweb: I think you did congratulate me, but it's all good...I can do another GF dance:dance3::dance3: can't believe it's less than 6 months already:cool1: And I have my first Poly stay in August:cloud9:

I didn't know about Poly in August! That's superrrr exciting! Too bad you couldn't be there a few weeks later and we could meet up.

So nice to see you disneydreanin247! Glad you are only working 2 days this week - working does get in the way of thinking about resort changes.;)

And ADR switching! Work never gets in the way of RC though. I've harassed many a WDTC CM right from my desk. :rotfl:

I do the same thing! I need help with the ADR's usually. :upsidedow But this time it's a little different, I don't have many ADR's at all, and am planning to wing it for most of the trip. :) So far I only have Yak and Yeti, Teppen Edo for Ben's birthday dinner, and Jiko.

Glad you're not working much this week! :goodvibes

:scared1: You are much braver than I! I'd probably get stuck at Mama Melrose and Tony's Town Square for every meal.

WCC is so much fun and it allows you to do a little resort hopping and boat-taking;). And, those milk shakes are all-you-can-drink:drinking1

An all-you-can-drink milkshake sounds just divine on this supe hot day. Another day over 95. I guess Mother Nature is preparing me for Disney in September.

So, who likes my new ticker? :cloud9:

I love it!!!!

Some of DD's German immersion classmates shook hands with the President and Chancellor yesterday and DD instead stepped back away from the crowd and stood near a shady tree where it was cooler and quieter. Club Cool is one of her favorite stops at Epcot:laughing:
Guess I would've hung under the tree too...TOO HOT:thumbsup2 Standing under a tree at the White House is still pretty darn cool!

How's Gracie???? I melted already. DS 10 was supposed to have the 4th grade Bronx Zoo trip. NO WAY! I kept him home for the A/C, got a call at 10am-Oh they rescheduled.....WHAT!!!! Nice to call, like this morning, (he was supposed to be there at 730am for the bus) I called him out last night, school starts at 8am...they couldn't have called earlier. Sorry for the rant, it was a half day anyway, so bringing him at 1030 would've been silly. I didn't want him out in the sun all day...We went out for milkshakes:goodvibes Play Hooky with Mommy Day!:cloud9:

Hope you have a great day! So ready for summer break. Although kiddos no longer sleep past 7am:scared1: We really need to get our act together and meet up! We did milkshakes earlier, all-you-can-drink would've been LOVELY...still working on my Vacation body though. I had Diet Pepsi:laughing:

I thought I was all done changin' when I had to call Disney again to modify my existing reservation:sad2: I was accepted into the RN program at my school so I had to change my whole reservation:sad1: I had some great ADRs and had everything planned out almost perfectly. Now I have to start all over:sad2: But on the bright side, I am glad we still get to go. I had to shorten our trip only by one day, so I am really happy about that. We were going to do a split stay but now we are just going to stay at AKL for 10 days. We are now leaving on July 26, a whole 2 weeks earlier:yay: While having to re-plan everything is frustrating to say the least, I am screaming from the rooftop "I GOT INTO NURSING SCHOOL!!!":dance3: There was 700 applicants for 41 spots:scared1: I did not think I had a chance!

Congratulations! What a wonderful reason to have to change all your ADRs:goodvibes. When I'm over at the CR and Poly, I'll be thinking about you. We do have one ADR at Boma so I can get my Zebra Dome fix. BTW, pas130, who is a fellow RC on this thread, is a nurse - nurses are awesome:thumbsup2

Hi! My name is Karen, and I'm a SRC (serial resort changer). This seems like the appropriate place for me to be :goodvibes:rolleyes:
:welcome: home, Karen:wave:

Do tell us what you've been changing or contemplating changing:hyper:

I couldn't stand not having a ticker. I'll die if I don't have one. :rotfl: My DBF doesn't know about it nor will he ever notice it. I wanted to put something that would represent a couple and of course the wedding one was the only one. :rotfl: And he knows I want to get married. I've already talked about it. I've talked his ear off about the decorations and music and anything that could be disney-fied. :lmao: He's such a good sport. I'm sure he's able to block out my voice when I talk about Disney by now.

You can start in August once I actually book the resort. :rotfl: I think it'll be possible for me and gramma to go back! I'd hope for the end of January when it would be less crowded.

So cute!! :bride:
Love it! Will this be your little secret/wishful thinking or will DBF notice? This is very exciting and I look forward to what unfolds with any ticker changes! :dance3:

It's wishful thinking. :rotfl: I hope to have lots of changes!

Well, for THIS trip, which I've only been planning since last week, I've changed from POFQ to BWI and now to the Poly. I think I'll stick, but I always say that. :rolleyes1

This seems like a really fun group of people! :flower3:

There might be a change already. :rotfl: My boyfriend wants this trip to be as cheap as possible if we do go, but he says if we go next year we can't go for our honeymoon if we do end up getting married. I don't know what to do! I don't want this to end up like another decade wait. :sad1: If we do go next year, it will probably be in September because it's cheaper than October, but it really all depends on DBF. :sad2:

I once stuck to the Poly/CL, then un-stuck to go to WL/CL and then a few days later I re-stuck again, and this was just last week. But we're now all very happy with the final outcome of multiple changes to the second half of our split:goodvibes.

What did you book at the Poly? Have you made a longhouse request?

I'd say this is ever-evolving and could all change (for the better) - in fact, I'd bet on it.

When you do get married and when you go on a honeymoon, I would skip the Dells and save my money to go to WDW, even if you have to postpone the honeymoon a little. Disclaimer: This advice is from someone who never had a honeymoon:upsidedow

Okay, call me crazy, but when did men get to make such decisions?:confused3 Shouldn't it be mutual...and heck, you will be the bride, so the honeymoon should be wherever you want to go!! :bride: :thumbsup2

If it's one WDW trip, I'd skip the cheapo one and go for your honeymoon and make it really special! :goodvibes

Oh, you are in the right place!! I always swear it is my last change, but once I change (or change back) to the Poly I start thinking about GF...then I read that the WL might be under going a refurb, so a nice freshly refurbed resort would be calling my name....but.. I do love the Poly....it is our home resort. :goodvibes

I also read somewhere on the DIS that a CR manager told a guest that CR was going to get a big rehab - new furnishings, carpet etc (anyone else hear about this?). It's about that time if Disney keeps on the every 6 yrs schedule - which they pretty much seem to do at the most popular resorts anyway.

Gosh, I LOVE a refurb... I'd switch to almost any resort after it had a new refurb....almost.;)

Good Morning, RCer's!

What's on today's agenda?

I wanted to go back and multiquote, but I am SO tired...we were up very late last night..my SIL's Atlanta connection was canceled (he's on his way to FL to visit his mom for the weekend), so DD was trying to get him on another flight and find a hotel for the ngt...but...DGD was over tired and wild...you know what an over tired 2 1/2 yr can be like..so I tried to keep her occupied. Fortunately, they both work for a major company in the travel division so have computers that can access flight info - but DD was on the phone for hours trying to get this morning's flight tkt'ed. Did I mention I'm sooo tired??

Gracie is doing pretty well - think the lasix really helped. Thanks for asking pas130.

Have a great TGIF...unless you're a nurse and work weekends...if so, then bless your heart and thank you.:flower3:

If I were you I would work on your BF so you can go in October and HoneyMoon in Disney.
Did you say your BF has never been to Disney? Then you have to make it the best expierence possible so he will want to HoneyMoon there.
Do your research on the weather in September vs October, September is a lot hotter and more humid and then there is the chance of the "love bugs". October should be cooler and less humid and of course the F&W Festival will be in full swing. Oh and the rain, September is wetter too! So yes September may be value season but the extra cost is not much to go in October instead and the benifits far outway the $. IMO.
Once you get him hooked on Disney getting him to want to HoneyMoon in Disney should be a piece of cake.

This site is great for getting statistics on weather variations to show to anyone. I used it to compare September to October to DH to convience him we would have a much better time by going in October this year :rotfl:

Oh my gosh! Thanks guys! :grouphug: My DBF has never been to WDW and I want to make it as special as possible. The biggest thing is that he wants to work on saving his money for a house and wants to pay off his debt, which I totally understand. That is much more important than paying for a trip to Disney World. I told him I was more than willing to pay for everything because I want this to be special. I even said we could shorten the stay (5 days), but he says if he's going to go, he wants to do it right and go for longer (7 or 8 days) since we will be doing what we both want to do. My gramma and I didn't eat a lot when we went so I don't expect us to spend a lot of money on food. This definitely should be a mutual decision, like Minnie&Nana said, but I don't want him to start hating WDW before he even goes. He's already tired of me talking about this trip! I have a feeling I'm turning him into a DHDBF (Disney Hating Dearest BoyFriend)! :scared1:

I won't be able to do a split stay for this October trip, but I think I will go all out for the honeymoon if that does happen. I will postpone the honeymoon for as long as possible so I could stay at CR and go when I want. :cloud9: The bride's family has to pay for the wedding, right? Then I will get to decide on the honeymoon because my family paid for the wedding. :rotfl:

We decided to go Saturday - Saturday because my DBF doesn't want to request off a lot of days of work because October can be one of the busiest months for his job. So there's a change already.
