Resort Change by Disney

I went to choose my magic band for my ASMU trip for July 14-18 and was offered Riviera as a premium magic band . I wander of that is where they are putting me ?
Probably not. I’ll be staying at BWV in October and was offered a GF MB.

Has that been confirmed? With a few rare exceptions, I thought they aren't dealing with reservations that extend past July 11th yet. They may move cash guests from hotels to DVC for that time period, but at this point I don't think we can say with certainly it is happening or will happen, much less than the majority of moves are after that date.

Dealing with original reservations that extend past July 11th versus moving those with original reservations that occur prior to that time to new dates after July 11th are two completely different things. Also, I don't know what Disney is currently advising guests about what reservation timeframes they are "dealing" with, but there are guests who have proactively called that have been moved.

We are after July 11th. Hopefully they will open more resorts. I’m not really thrilled with being moved to the ones they have already moved people to.

CM's are notorious for putting a positive spin on things. And in this case, if you're planning on going, lots of people cancelling is what you want to hear. I swear, they must work on commission.:lmao:
I was a DRC CM they can make certain bonuses after hitting a certain mark plus near perfect survey scores but otherwise they are hourly
As far as the cancellations go there really are a lot of cancellations bc of the masks, no characters and no guarantee to get into the park

This is just not true. I just checked dates 7/18 - 7/25 just to get an idea, and nearly every room type is available at every resort. Normal availability a month out would maybe have an SSR studio and that is about it.

I don't think Disney is going to make a decision on opening additional resorts unless the current DVC resorts are 100% full.
Using the dates you provided (7/18 - 7/25), 3 nights available at a BWV Standard View room, no nights available at JH Value, 2 nights available at VGF Standard or Lake View. Many other room categories have full availability, while some have limited availability.

Now compare this to 2 weeks earlier, where every room category is fully available.

Prior to the July 11 opening, all DVC rooms are available. After that, some rooms are not.

Is this incredibly low? Most certainly. DVC's slow season typically runs from mid-August to mid-September. Having any open nights in a Studio at (for example) VGF in July is unprecedented.

However, you're missing my main point.

Until the theme parks open, the primary form of onsite entertainment will be the pools. Under normal circumstances, the pools are designed to handle only a fraction of Guests staying at a hotel. However, with social distancing, the pools will be only be able to handle a fraction of a fraction. Without the theme parks open, expect far more Guests than usual to want to spend time at the pools.

Once the theme parks open, that will reduce crowds at the pools. Until then and with social distancing enforced, the pools are likely to woefully inadequate at handling the crowds.

I really wish the DRC CM could all get on the same page. I am a former DRC CM so I still have contacts within DRC and I talked to 6 different CMs and got different stories from each lol Ive heard more resorts will come online Aug1. Ive heard POP will be open for my dates of aug 21 thru 30th. Ive heard as we have seen that they will move you at no cost unless you are changing dates. Another one said youd have to pay ( but he sounded very confused he didnt even know they had been doing moves for free) Its just a mess! Im trying to be patient but wanted some peace of mind..

did you hear anything about a particular opening date for pop? I know just a rumor but still curious. We are supposed to be there 8/2-8/10

When I called and changed my dates from POP, June 28-July 3rd to November 8-13, the CM told me that I could only book a room at Fort Wilderness or one of the DVC resorts. Pop was not expected to be open at that time. So, it sounds as if, Disney has just these resorts open now and will run them at capacity before they open other resorts. Time will tell and I am sure Disney will reopen other resorts if they feel like they can do so and have a certain percentage of the rooms filled to validate the cost.

not heard about an estimated date POP will be open.. I wish!
It’s time for them to make an announcement on what will happen after July 11 with resorts. It’s not really fair to us who’s trips are getting close. I have a backup reservation at Universal. Thing is I bought about 6 Disney T-shirts and Disney masks to wear. I’m sure Universal won’t mind 😂.

Did they say you would get any discount for November? Right now we have the sun and fun discount so I wonder if we could still use it and move our dates.

They are very clear that you can’t use an expiring discount at a later date. You can apply a new discount if one exists for your new travel time, but sun n fun expires when it expires (August? September?)

I wanted to move our dates later in August so are they still going honor that discount I wonder?

I *think* as long as that resort is still going to be open & they still have available rooms that qualify for the discount (it’s always a portion of rooms eligible for the discount) and the discount hasn’t been pulled off their site, then they should be able to apply it.

That’s a lot of “ifs” and you’d have to check.

I am able to choose both Riviera and Grand Floridian Magic bands. Stay is 7/26 at Pop. I do not think that means they will move me to Grand Floridian. I think it just means anyone can upgrade their magic band to a given number of bands.

I booked originally with the free dining offer back in January so, when I changed dates to November, they gave me the 35% discount off of the Fort Wilderness cabins room portion only. But I think the discount is only for those who originally booked the free dining offer. I have not heard of anyone with the sun and fun offer being given a discount for later than September. Sorry that I may be the bearer of bad news.

Your points are valid that Disney deciding not to open their hotels will make a difference at the ones that are open.

Of course, anyone visiting prior to the park opening knows the pools are going to be a big draw..

The idea that somehow DVC owners have the right to expect Disney not to use the points they own or move cash guests to rooms that other owners didn’t book makes little sense when we agreed to allow them to do that when we bought.

Let’s be honest, had owners not switched out their trips, and booked those rooms like normal, the situation would be exactly the same as it will be now,
