Resort cards on lanyards?

We have punched holes in our cards with no problems so our kids can carry their own. When we go on a ride where the lanyard may be flopping around we just make sure to slip the lanyard inside our shirt.

 this might be a stupid question, but humor me please? :confused3 (I'm a newbie to WDW)

Isn't it dangerous on rides to have this thing hanging off your neck? I'd really worry about my kids.

And what happens if you DO lose them off your lanyard? Will they void those somehow and present you with new ones?

The lanyards we used have a tear away part on the back, so if pressure is put onto them they break away. If you lose your Key to the World my understanding is that everyone in your room has to get new cards, which I believe they provide at no extra charge. I understand paper passes are dealt with differently, that is why many people warn you to write down the number or copy the back of the passes.

Make copies of the front and back of you tickets. There are codes on the back that will enable the CMs to issue you a new ticket in case yours gets lost. W/O that info I don't think they will be able to issue you a new one if yours gets lost.
