Resort cards on lanyards?

I am trying to figure out the best way for my kids to tote their resort cards/tickets around without having to make sure the correct adult has everyone's cards. When we cruised in the past they punched a hole in the kids' cards and we put them on lanyards. Can this be done with the Disney cards without disabling their ability to be used in fast pass, etc?

We bought the lanyards at the water park. The cards fit well and we did not have to punch holes in the card. i personally would not do that. They fit well in there and they can wear the lanyard around their neck. It worked out good for us.

they have lanyard for sale that are pin trading ones that the cards fit in and they are water proof i use mine every time i go down it works great and i don't have to luge a purse around

You have to be careful with the lanyards.

Where the clip attaches to the plastic card holder is really flimsy. I've actually had mine tear and the tickets fall to the ground  Luckily I saw it happen, but it was just luck.

I switched over to one of the wallets with the clip on it, I snap the wallet to my bikini or belt loop on my shorts. Mine is Tinkerbelle!

How about punching a hole in them and using a good sturdy safety pin to attach to their clothing? As long as you don't punch a hole in the magnetic strip on the back I would think you would be fine. But I would ask a CM what they think before you do it. I too would worry about putting them on the pin lanyards, the metal loop on ours isn't very good.

I think this would work better if you got your park tickets on the plastic KTW that is your hotel key also. I don't know how well it would work with the paper tickets.

Also, you might try purchasing separate lanyards for your kids. I found some at the Dollar Store that the cards just slipped into (kind of like a little wallet), so no hole punching required. However, the kids thought they were a pain in the neck, so I ended up keeping most of the cards anyway!

We have used lanyards on our last three trips and they are fine. they are also fun because you can keep the pins on them. as for the flimsiness we havent had any problems with it, but i do see how it can happen. but i still say go with the lanyards.

We have the lanyards with the clear plastic holder on them, but they are attached to the lanyard pretty nicely, we got them at Office Depot!! They are the breakaway lanyards :teeth:

The problem with this is that you'd be constantly having to unhook them for fastpass tickets.

Both my husband and I wear lanyards, and we carry our own tickets and one of us carries DS's. We also put the fastpasses in the plastic thingies with our tickets.

You can buy lanyards, but I had a tough time finding the little plastic thingies at WDW last May. I'd buy some plastic pouches before you go.

I was under the impression your tickets were on your resort key, which is plastic right? I didn't realize they were paper tickets. So I see now why some sort of pocket or wallet might be necessary.

The military tickets are paper, and we that's what we put in the plastic pouches, along with our resort keys. It worked just fine.

I go to our badging office at work and get lanyards and plastic card holders and stretchy retractible thingies so we can each put our cards around our necks. No, they are not Disney, but they are regulation, sturdy and free!

:cool1:

I bought lanyards at Wal-Mart in the wallet section for 99 cents that worked great on our trip. It has a velcro closure at the top (so it will breakaway if needed) and a little ziploc-like plastic enclosure that hangs around your neck. My DH and I both wore one and we each had our ticket and one kids ticket along with our resort IDs (we did not combine ours). We never found them to be cumbersome...we actually forgot we were wearing them until we needed something inside them. Oh..it also had a plastic pocket on the front that you could slide stuff in and out too...like fastpasses. :goodvibes

I used badge holders they are little wallets that worked really well with the kids :bounce:

If you are staying off site you wouldn't have a plastic resort key, or if you chose to just purchase a one day ticket at the ticket booth at the park, then they are paper.

One year we stayed on site for a couple of days, but only went to MK & TL, so we ended up just purchasing one day tickets for both. I just wansn't sure if the poster was staying onsite or offsite.

So if you are staying onsite then your tickets are on your resort key? If so, would punching a hole in them (away from the magnetic strip) be a viable option?

If you purchase your tickets as a package (with resort stay) or let them know at the front hotel desk and pay for your tickets at that time, I believe you can have them added to your plastic resort key. It seems like you should be able to punch a hole in them, I have never done so, but I would definately ask a CM before I punched a hole. Since they go through so many card readers it might make them unreadable.

But then again what's the worst that can happen? The cards can't be swiped through the machines and they have to issue you new ones! Not the end of the world, but might take a few minutes out of the day to get new ones issued.

 this might be a stupid question, but humor me please? :confused3 (I'm a newbie to WDW)

Isn't it dangerous on rides to have this thing hanging off your neck? I'd really worry about my kids.

And what happens if you DO lose them off your lanyard? Will they void those somehow and present you with new ones?

I've been going to wdw for years with a lanyard filled with pins hanging around my neck, never had a problem until the plastic holder gave up the ghost and dropped to the ground.

The fabric part that goes around my neck velcroes together where it meets the plastic, and any of the really fast rides like Rock and Roller Coaster have a chest protector that comes down over your head and keeps the lanyard in place.

None of the other rides are fast enough to have your lanyard flapping in the wind, so to speak, although it does make an entertaining thought!

I think if you lose your tickets you can go to guest services and they'll void the lost ones and issue you new ones. I'm fairly sure that's the case.
