Resort Busses - New Wait Times Monitors

Okay......Disney does a pretty good job when you take into consideration just how many people it's moving around, over a very large area. Is the system perfect? Nope. I just don't think expecting to know exactly when the next bus will arrive is reasonable. We aren't talking about someone getting to the hospital for brain surgery here. Yes, there are going to be some guests that just have to know when they are getting to their destination...and again I say that perhaps they should rent a car. I know that when I was in London, their public transportation system, at least the underground, was incredibly reliable....the signage was almost exactly correct, every time. BUT.....it doesn't have to contend with traffic, signals, slow pokes in front of them, etc. Buses do. Not to mention the huge public outcry that would ensue when a bus that was supposed to arrive at 8:50, arrived 5 mins late. When things are supposed to be exact, everyone goes nutty when there is any deviation.
At least now we can get an idea as to when the bus is coming...so much better than before when we arrived at the bus stop and had no clue.

How is that not predictable??? Video cameras could easily detect how many ECV are at the bus stops.
  1. At resorts without separate queues, there's no telling where they're going.
  2. At resorts with separate queues, a significant number of Guests don't know they're supposed to queue up in the wheelchair area, or, when traffic is light, hang back under the canopy until the bus approaches.
  3. Multiple cast members would need to be dedicated to watching the cameras and adjusting the times, at a time when Disney is cutting labor.
Plus they could use RFID readers to determine which park the EVCs are going to.
  1. No technology is in place to do that. Based on Disney IT's track record, it would take millions of dollars and many years to implement. :teeth:
  2. What's the cost/benefit win? (Remember, everything is bottom-line now.)
  3. If you're depending on the radio transmitters, the Magic Bands are not associated with a wheelchair, and some Guests still prefer using cards over bands.
  4. Even if you could capture the ticket data, that provides no indication where the Guest is going that day.
  5. If you're expecting wheelchair Guests to swipe or tap and push a button when they arrive at the bus stop ... Good Luck!
There are lots of technological approaches I can think of that might improve the efficiency of the bus system, but they're all Blue Sky, unproven, and expensive.
