Resort booking - Annual pass or CAA?

For all you Canadian experts (and there are plenty here!)...I have always stayed at a value resort but am thinking that for my DBF's first trip ever to Disney which will be Nov. 8-17, 2007, I would really like to WOW him and stay at a deluxe resort. (maybe Polynesian, Wilderness Lodge, Dolphin, or one of the Boardwalk resorts.

Sooooo...here's my question...would it be any more cost effective for me to buy an annual pass in order to get a lower rate at a deluxe or continue as I always do with booking through CAA?

Could somebody help me with this question? I'm sure somebody must have done some sort of comparison for this...

Thank you so much!!!! :cloud9:

you might try looking at the mousesavers website or asking this on the resorts rates and codes board.

I think with the AP it really depends on the time of year you are going as to how deep the discount is and how much savings there would be - I think mousesavers has a chart if I remember right. For us it's never a savings thing having an AP b/c it just makes us want to go more often for the year we have it

We got an AP through CAA last spring and had them book us...though I think there was no additional discount beyond the AP rate. (This time we booked directly ourselves, watched for the AP rates, got something the day they came out...if the CAA TA makes the res, you can't change anything directly, so I won't do that again.)

In early June ("regular" season) we got the "standard" room at the Poly for $300/nt on an AP rate. It was wonderful, but too pricey to do again anytime soon. We also got AKL savannah view for about $250/nt. (We splurged and did 2 at AKL and 2 at the Poly.) This time in value season we got CBR for $99/nt. If you can manage it, I would recommend the Poly. (But really, is one night there worth 3 at CBR?) But wish I could go back!

I did have a bit of anxiety this time waiting for the AP rates to come out, as they are NOT guaranteed...but I was counting on them and would've had to go off site if they hadn't come up.

Good luck!

I don't know if you are considering a DVC resort...but we originally booked OKW with CAA and received about a $730.00 discount. We have since been able to take advantage of the Annual Pass discount of $101.00 per night and we are receiving over $1200.00 in discounts. So I feel that the AP has paid for itself in discounts.
:) :)
