Resort board pet peeves?

It's obvious I don't post much but the whole abbreviation thing just doesn't work for me either.....

NYK

now you know :)

If it is a very general question, you should do a little homework. At least say, that you've tried the Search function, but couldn't find what you were looking for.

But if it is a very specific question, ask and see what people say. Just don't come across as being too darned lazy to find something. That's what bothers me. Along with questions so general that you can't even figure out what the poster is asking. Like "Tell me about DVC". What do you want to know about DVC?
But the one that bothers me is the person who posts "Subscribing to the thread". You don't need to post to subscribe to the thread. Just use the thread tools.

"Subbing"..................UGH! Im with you on this one!!!!!!

How many millions of times are the same questions asked, in particular - help me decide, Boardwalk or Beach Club, Contemporary or Polynesian, Wilderness Lodge or Animal Kingdom Lodge, Old Key West or Saratoga Springs, or hundreds of other resort combinations. Or asked at least 20 times a week on the resort boards- convince me to stay at a deluxe over a moderate. As someone said previously, use the search function.

Or my favorite, "stay at the Beach Club rather than the Boardwalk because it is closer to Epcot." Really? Staying at the Beach Club because it at most 3 minutes less to walk to than the Boardwalk is not a reason to choose one hotel over the other.

Good for you! =) Another pet peeve I have is referring people to a 400 page resort thread to find an answer to a question. That takes forever!

But if you bothered to read those 200-page threads, you'd see that each of them has anywhere from 1 to 20 pages at the beginning strictly to inform people about EVERY INCH of that particular resort. The rest of those threads are discussions about the resort. But to dismiss them entirely is really a mistake for a newbie. And if you bothered to actually read them, they would probably answer about 75 percent of your resort questions.

Lol I have been guilty of similar posts. I also laugh at the posts where people are like "had the worst experience ever because my family of 25 with six connecting rooms seven food allergies and my 2 grandparents with severe dementia did not get all,of their requests honored and I had to walk down a hallway to get to my room instead of being teleported there"

:rotfl2:

The one I hate the most is the thread that starts "I'm just in tears" over this or that. I'm in tears that I can't get this reservation, or "I'm in tears because they screwed up my reservation. I just want to reach through the screen and smack them. LOL You know who you are! ;)

Another pet peeve is the ones asking for the best room. It will say "I've never stayed at the Poly so what room should i ask for? What is the BEST room there?" Drives me crazy and the best room is the room you DEEM best from experience. Then 10k other posts will tell this poster 10k different rooms. Hello! Go stay at the resort and decide what you would think is a good room.

I hate when someone posts one bad review out of the hundreds of glowing ones, and then someone responds, "Oh no! Canceling my reservation now!"

Really? Based on one random review?

Mine are the use of acronyms for evvvverything - yo I was at CR in the CL after I got back from F! with my DH and DS and DD (8) then we went to MK via the TTC. MNSSHP was happening and it was cool to get a snack with the DDxDP. Favorite snack was from ASM better than most TS offerings, Headed to AKL with DH tomorrow for KS hope it's awesome! Then finish up at B&C at the BC don't even need an ADR! YMMV IMHO! Make sure you get the SV at AKL if renting DVC. Pass the ROFR before contract is valid! SSR and OKW FTW! AoA! SAB is awesome and so close to the IG!

:rotfl2: :thumbsup2

 I've read a few like this. I just want to scream. The first time I read someone complain about having to walk to the end of a hallway, I had to go back and reread it several times to be sure I was understanding correctly. How do these people survive everyday life?

The thread title that makes me gag every time is, "Talk to me about ..."
Yeah, you're cool.

I dislike people who refer to an entire resort as "Taco Bell" themed because they can't understand the difference between Mayan themed and Mexican fast food restaurant chain.

Oh and they do this multiple times, whenever someone asks a question about the resort.

I stand by my assertion that the Coronado Springs resort reminds me of Taco Bell which uses a similar architecture, color scheme, and art style. People unfamiliar with the resort are looking for opinions and impressions about if and I am glad to share mine. Let's keep this "pet peeves" list general and not personal, it's just light hearted fun after all!

One of mine would be "Has anybody ever stayed at .......?" or even better "Anybody at.....right now?" Every single time I'm tempted to reply "No- the place is deserted. Nobody ever goes there."

But my biggest pet peeves on this board are a tie between the "Is ....... worth it?" and the "Sell me on/ convince me to stay at .........". For heaven's sake people- read the info available, look at photos, ask some SPECIFIC questions, and then make up your own mind. Don't expect total strangers to make it up for you.

This thread is hilarious - I love it!

My biggest pet peeve is the personal attacks. Completely unnecessary and annoying to wade through when I'm hunting for useful information.

Most annoying IMO are the "is it crowded" posts

Disney will never be exclusive to your family only unless you rent the park for the day.
Just expect the unexpected and deal with it
