I'm pretty unfamiliar with using RAC when leaving WDW. I understand the basics but have a few questions I'm hoping some more experienced people can answer for me:

1. How long does it take to check in using RAC and how long are the lines typically?

2. Our flight leaves at 12:30 pm which means our pick up time will probably be around 9:30 am (and I know we need to be on the platform about 15 minutes earlier). Would it work to check in at RAC between 8:45 and 9:00 or would we need to be there earlier?

3. We're flying Delta and we have a Skymiles Amex which means we don't pay for luggage. How does that work with RAC?

Thanks in advance for your help.

The time you will stand in line for RAC is kind of hard to determine because it all depends on the number of people in front of you and how quickly everyone can get checked in. I been in line and its gone quickly and then I've been in line with just 1 or 2 people in front of me that took forever because of issues one of the people had. So it is kind of hard to give an exact answer. Make sure you are prepared when you check in with your flight confirmation numbers and each person in your party needs to be there with there ID as well.
I would definately get to the RAC desk welll before 9:00. I'd rather get there early than too late and miss the ME bus. If were me, I'd go and check in around 8:00 and get checked and be done with it.

I like to get to the RAC counter as early as possible. The lines start to get longish around 8 or so, then dwindle down about 10ish.
The entire process, once you get up to the counter, takes about 10 mins tops, usually a bit less. But, if there is someone in front of you, having an issue, your time could be a lot longer. I've gotten to the RAC area at about 7:45, figuring I'm going to be fine. But the one family in front of me had a baggage weight issue. They had to open bags and redistribute stuff to avoid addtl weight fees. Drove me nuts.

Twice I've been the person holding others up. But it wasn't my fault either time. Once for some reason they were having trouble with their computers freezing up and then the second time they were having trouble with the Air Tran site and couldn't get my boarding pass.:rotfl: I'm an early riser anyway, so I usually try to get down there by 7:00am. I've gone back to my room or the food court then walked back through there around 8:00 and the line has been the length of the check in area.

I can say I always get there as early as possible.

Last year, on the last morning, it was 40 degrees outside. POR used to have the RAC desk inside; now they have moved it outside. The computers froze up and it took about 20 minutes for me just to check-in, not counting the 15 minutes I had to stand in line. Don't wait until the last minute to try to check in.
