Resignation notice

My DH'S contract also specifies a 90 day notice. He is a manager. We assumed that it would be because he is the only person in his company that does his specific job duties. If he were to resign they would need to hire and train a new person prior to him leaving. I work in staffing and I had a hard time grasping this 90 day concept, but it is what it is...
 
I get 11/22 from tomorrow, using an ADR calculator! That's a Sunday, so I'd give them 11/23!

Hummm.. I got 11/21 counting it out day by day on the calendar.
 

Well, when I was given my 60 day notice by work it was 60 days straight. SO I would say 90 days straight. The thing is...would a new employer want to wait 90 days to get an employee??

I hope your tag isn't a description of the job you'll have to teach someone in 90 days. Around here, they learn it in 5 minutes.:rotfl:
 
I'm also curious. I'm in management, and the "short timers syndrome" w/ a 30 day notice is bad enough. Can't imagine 90 days??

Do they seriously make you stay the 90 days? My boss usually lets people not come back after about 3 weeks, and just pays them out.

I was required to give 90 days notice at my last job, and it was awful. It was shift work, so I was negiotiating a new contract in June, and I was just watching the schedules role out for July, then August, then September. I kept trying to be absolutely neutral in my schedule requests (so I wasn't accused of backloading work past my notice period), but I kept cringing as my new contract got delayed and I kept having night shift creep into my notice period!

As it turned out, I had pregnancy complications a week into my notice period. My employer decided to let me leave rather than risk my going out on disability.

I think we work for the same company. Most places in my industry have a 60 day clause for resignation once you get to a certain level. However, the day you resign they escort you out the door for security purposes. My company actually makes you work it. :rolleyes:

I could see mine doing that(I mean escorting me out the door). I'll let you know.
 
I gave my boss almost a year's notice of my date of retirement. At the time I had been in my position for 15 years and was one of three people running the Central Accounting System of the Federal Courts. He told me that other than my routine duties, until retirement my major project would be to get my thought processes and what I actually did down on paper. At the time the Division was having a reorganization and just a couple of months prior to my retirement my duties were split to people in five Sections in three Branches.

In the Division's shared Network Drive I set up a subdirectory called "Mike's Replacement's Information" which ended up with about 200 documents and speadsheets in it.
 
Resignation given. Last day 11-21.
No fuss, no muss. At least not yet.
 
I'm just curious, but what job requires a 90 day notice?

Mine does. I am a VP at a bank and had to sign a document accepting the 90 day policy. Even if they don't make you work the notice, you cannot work for anyone else during the 90 day period.
