Reserving now for 2005

A friend of mine will be travelling with her group of 15 in May of next year, and she called the other day to get some quotes from CRO. They told her that she needs to book now because if she waits until January the rates will be higher. I know the rates are going up next year, but I wasn't aware of the fact that if you book in 2004 for 2005 then you get the 2004 rates? Was she given mis-information or is this accurate? If so, DBF and I better get our tails in gear and book our September 2005 trip ASAP so we can get the lower rates and then we can just wait for codes to make it even lower Thanks for any help.

That was misinformation. You do not get 2004 rates for a 2005 ressie if booked in 2004.

maybe they are saying if you hold the rooms now with a deposit you lock in the cheaper 2005 rates, but if you wait to make a
reservation after the rate hike, you pay the "new" prices.

Does that make sense?

I would tell your friend to make a reservation and lock in the
current prices, IF they are really going to raise them.

What if they are referring to ticket prices and not room prices?
Did your friend want to include hopper passes?

The CRO is correct. My travel agent tells DH and I about this all of the time. Here's an example. Two years ago, DH and I booked the Dream Maker Silver package for 10 nights for the price of $3200 in Sept of 2002. For a Christmas present to which we paid for and gave in January we put the deposit down for the DMS package for my BIL & SIL. The same package we paid $3200 for a couple of months before had jumped to close to $3800 and they were paying for the same amount of people as us.

I think if you book outside of the calander year, Disney gives an "early booking discount" on certain things and packages and cruises are one of them.

My TA just told me two days ago that if we are going to go on the Disney Cruise in 2006 to book now because we will be able to save money. So guess what we are in the process of doing?

The room rates for 2005 have been published and are set. These will not change. What will (most likely) change is the cost of the park tickets.

If you book now, your price will be locked in, so that when the ticket prices do go up, your package will already be locked in at the lower ticket prices.

There are early booking discounts for cruises, but not for Disney World, unless you count beating the ticket price increase.

So, in actuality, you have to pay the room rate for the year you are going, but, if you book in 2004 for 2005, you will possibly get a lower ticket rate than if you waited to book until 2005?? Is that correct? Maybe I'm still confused

yes, if you purchase a package with tickets now they are locked in
at the current prices, if they raise ticket prices in 2005, you are have already purchased yours, even if you still owe on them.
