reserving for large group

Hello! This is my very first post!!
We are having my son's B-Day at Chef Mickey's October 2nd. We will have a group of 8-11, but my problem is that a couple of guests will not know until at most a month before if they will be able to be there that day!
How will they react if I reserve for 11 and only 8 show up? I know it's not an issue normally, but I wondered since it is a restaurant that regularly books up solid.

I would reserve for the larger group. You can always call back and change the ADR if fewer people show up.

I am doing the same thing except for a wedding for 20 people. I don't know for sure if all will show up or not.

We usually have any where from 8-13 people depending on if my cousin that works for disney is there and if my aunt decides to come. I booked the group dinners for 13 and told them to let me know if they can't come. I figured its easier to reduce the number then add to the number.

Make it for the most that will be there and when you arrive just let them know that the number is smaller. I know one time I made adr for 4 then we took someone extra and when I called they told me they had no more adr for 5 and we would have to cancel. So, don't tell no one, I kept the reservations and showed up with 5. We went up to the podeum and she asked last name and how many and I told her we had an extra person (DH was prepared just to go to bar and hang out) and she said no problem it might just take a little longer to sit you, I said that is okay and thanked her. We were seated in 5 minutes and this was in the summer!

Always, always, always reserve for the maximum number in your party. It is MUCH easier to decrease the party size than to increase it.

And always, always, always call back as soon as you know the final count in your party.
