Reserving 3 bd at 7 month window???

We just joined in Dec 05 and we have begun planning a multi-family trip for Dec 2007. 3rd week of December say 16th thru 23rd. I really don't want to use up so many points to stay at SSR during this time...so we really want a 3 bd at OKW...but my home resort is SSR so I can't reserve until the 7th month window? What chances do I have at getting OKW or ANY 3 bdrm for that matter?

Also...I see where people are booking 1 day at a time as each day hits the 7month or 11month window...how does this work? If you are staying 7 nights do you then have 7 seperate reservations? or are you able to combine them into one once all is said and done?

December is a very popular month for DVC members.

You should have no trouble reserving at your home resort at that time, but may find limited availability for a GV at any other resort. You may want to try to trade or rent from an OKW member in order to be able to reserve at 11 months at that resort.

And if you call day by day, they basically just add an extra night to your reservation each day that you call.

I booked a GV for September (granted, non busy time) at 11 months for our home at SSR as a "fallback plan." Figuring I secured enough space for the clan I then called with much doubt at 7 months and asked if there was a GV at BWV. the reply was "yes there is, would you like to change your reservation?"

I guess my thought was "get a room that will suffice and then see if you can get the room you REALLY wanted." It worked for us.

I know my chances of getting the thing in December would have been slim but at least I had piece of mind knowing I was set either way.

Thank's everyone - I think we will have to do what CptnJack suggested - go ahead and make it at my home resort and then pray that I can switch to OKW or BWV....at the 7month window and go day by day....There's only 8 of us.....4 kids 4 adults so technically we COULD fit in a 2 bdrm...but we all really wanted to have some private space as well....so the Grand Villa just seems so nice! I'll let you know how we turn out....I can't do my 11month till january...so I got awhile....i guess I should focus on my Dec 06 trip right now....we leave 12/16 and we are planning an April trip for 07 as well....but those are the easy ones....since it's just my family!
