How early can reservations be made? We are going back to WDW in 09' not sure when yet but as soon as we decide I want to make ressie as soon as I can.

I believe you can make room-only reservations for 2009 now. The rate may be higher because 2009 prices aren't out yet. The new package prices and rates are usually available mid to late summer (sometime in August I think) and you can switch over to a package at that point. Your rate will also be adjusted to reflect 2009 rates.

I think you can expect the new prices to come out around August; that's when it happened last year.

But people made reservations before then; there were no "standard view" rooms left at the Contemporary when I tried a day or two after the new prices were released. So if you can live with the uncertainty of the prices, give it a shot as soon as you know your dates.

Room only reservations can be booked up to 499 days into the future with a few exceptions. The calendar and rates for 2009 have not been published yet so any rooms booked for 2009 are booked with non-guaranteed rates.

Package reservations for 2009 cannot be booked yet and most likely will not be released until sometime in August based on recent history.

DVC resorts are an exception to the general rules. The non-member inventory booked through DRC is released 11 months in the future to coincide with when DVC members can begin booking at their home resort. Even when the 2009 packages come out DVC properties won't be available until that 11 month window opens up.

If there is a specific room or room category that is important for you to book then you can lock in the availability at the 499 day (or 11 month for DVC resorts) mark as a room only reservation and then convert to a package later on.
