Reservations Snafu

My wife and I are about to close on our DVC property. We need to use up our point, 180, by March. The only two time we would be able to visit WDW would be X-Mas break and during Feb Break. I understand these two times aren't desirable. If we can some how get a DVC property that would be great but are more than willing to stay anywhere, just to use the point. Here are my two question(possibly a few extra one's throwin' in):

1) Which is the lesser of the two evils(x-mas or Feb 17-22)?

2) Can we just simply use those points at other non-DVC resort(Poly, Cont or
GF)? If so how does that work? If they have a room will they treat me lke
any other paying customer or is there a special amount of rooms reserved
for DVC members?

Both of those times will be difficult to reserve at DVC resorts, although you may have a better chance with spring break, since we are several months out. If nothing else, you should be able to reserve at regular WDW resorts, non-DVC...but it takes a lot of points. You will be treated the same as a cash guest.

Your 180 points might only get you three or four nights in a non-DVC resort. Plus if you reserve a date after Jan1, you'll have to pay an extra $95 to do so.

Are these points bankable? Or have they already been banked? They might let you bank these even if you are past the banking deadline. Or you could ask the member who owns that contract now to bank them for you.

Thanks Chuck S. Spring Break will be to late, we'll lose our pts by that time. I have a feeling we will have to go with the non-dvc resort option. So we can just make a reservation asap and as long as they have a room we're good?

I booked the last week in Feb. (my dd's college spring break) about a month ago and they had plenty of availability....I even got my "barely hope to dream for" ressie at AKV, Sav. View. As soon as you are closed and in the system call and see what's available DVC-wise. If you aren't picky about where you stay and the size of accomodation I bet you can get in. Feb. will be much easier to book than Christmas. Good luck and Welcome Home!

Try SSR or OKW in feb you should be able to get something.. Non-DVC resorts require a lot of points don't know what you'll get for 180, maybe a value resort or just few nights at a deluxe. You may even want to try a wait list if SSR / OKW are full (which I doubt) good luck and WELCOME HOME!!
