Does anyone have any insight whether you have better luck with a 7-month request submitting an electronic request vs. making an actual call. The form says first come first serve basis, but do email request get taken based on the time they were submitted or when someone actually gets around to opening it. Meaning phone calls could actually jump ahead of an earlier submitted email. :confused3

Do it by phone. You know then whether you have it or not. And if you have to modify it slightly, you can do that.

I've had good luck with email reservations, but I also prefer booking via the phone for the immediate confirmation. It really depends upon where I am in my booking window, and if it is a busy time for DVC rsorts.

Email requests are handled when they get a chance- regardless when the email was sent. If you are dealing with a time-sensitive reservation, at either 11 months or 7 months, it would be wise to call MS and make the arrangements over the phone.

In the future, I expect reservations will be made on the internet just like WDW hotel rooms and cruise reservations, but until that is available just call if time is an issue. If you are wanting a reservation with no particular demand (2BR at OKW for September- 10 months ahead) emailing MS should be fine- you'll get a confirmation email within a short time. If you want a SV 1BR at BWV for early December - better plan on calling right at 11 months as the email may come up empty.

Enjoy!

Supporting what's been posted above, I'd say call in person during the first hour of the first day you're allowed to reserve for a difficult-to-get reservation. On the other hand, go ahead and e-mail if all you're trying to do is get a room request filed (view, floor etc.). According to "room ready" policy, those kinds of requests are supposed to be filled first-come-first-served during check-in, not when the reservation is made. (And when we were at BCV a couple of weeks ago, the CMs behind the check-in desk were actually getting candy and commendation awards for observing correct room ready policy, so the resort is serious about implementing it.)
