reservations hard to come by?

Just curious...

Does anyone find it hard to get the resort they requested when making reservations? It seems like there are an enormous amount of DVC members, plus non-DVC members that make ressies at DVC resorts, making it difficult to get ressies at your choice of resorts at certain times of year.

We usually go in the "off season"--have gone about 20 times with no problems making reservations, even on short notice. Got in Boardwalk last fall on with 3 weeks notice. Have had to use the wait list a couple of times, but it always came thru. As long as you are willing to utilize the 11 month "home resort reservation priority", you will have few problems since you are "competing" ONLY with other DVC members at that time.

Once you are within 7 months, the competition for rooms, at certain times, does get more challenging. Flexibility and patience are 2 keys to getting reservation requests met by DVC at some times of the year. Good Luck!

I am a BWV owner and for the last 2 years made my BWV reservations at 11 months for December (first week) and my OKW reservations at 7 months for May (Mother's Day weekend), no problems either one. From what I've heard, it's easier to get reservations at OKW at 7 months (or less). A couple of years ago I stayed at OKW in early March with DVC member friends and made the reservation about a month before. We were there Thurs to Mon, we had to wait list for the Sunday night but got it.

Early December I woke up and said to my wife "Lets take the kids to DW today". She laughed and said sure, only if we can use our points. I called MS when they opened, they had a 2 BR at OKW available for 5 nights. We took it and had a wonderfull time.

I booked a week at OKW, including a few days during the April vacation period in Novemeber and had no trouble.

I just booked studio for 7 days for 2nd week of may 01, no problem. Maybe I was just lucky?

I've never had a problem...usually go in January and June. Have changed/added days 2 months out with no trouble.
