Reservations for two but not three?

I almost made a mistake and made a reservation for two instead of three. Plenty of choice for two but when I switched to three the amount was cut in half. I dont understand. Why the difference for one extra person?

Now you're looking for a table for 4 instead of a table for 2. In other words, different table size.

A table for two can be 2-top table, and I think overall less people are trying to book for 2 than for larger parties. A table for 3 is normally a four-top table, so they may just all be booked. There aren't that many restaurants with 3-top tables, but there are a few - CRT is one I can think of.

There also has been an issue with the system properly recognizing odd numbers for tables. Not sure if it was addressed in the revamp or not (I would doubt it, as it's likely much deeper in the code-base and not related to the website alone).

I am running into this problem also. I had all my ADR's booked for a 10 day trip in June with just my daugher and myself and have since added her cousin to the trip. I was only able to update one ADR to reflect this change (Coral Reef), some of the others had nothing available at all on the days I wanted, some at very late times.

Talked with CM who was checking reservations. She couldn't guarantee anything but did say I should turn up for reservation times and see if they could accomodate me. She did say I would have a much better chance of my reservations were for first eating times for that meal (i.e we have 8:05a, at Crystal Palace for breakfast and 5:00pm for dinner at Chef Mickeys).

I don't feel comfortable doing this, I don't want to mess up someone elses reservations, so I keep checking each day. I am also going to see if the conceriage at BC can help me once we check in. If not, I will probably cancel all but the two early ones.

Definitely follow the advice you received from the CM and go to the reservations you have with the 3 people instead. There are always some left open for walkins and you can be accomodated that way. Also, there are always people who make reservations for larger groups than actually show up so they can be accomdated with a smaller table than originally planned. Don't give up your ADRs! You'll be fine. What's the worst that could happen- one place says no? Then you are in the same position you'd have been if you canceled anyway. Disney rarely says no though.

I'm running into the same problem, we were booked as a part of 6 for all our reservations, now 3 people aren't going on the trip and I cannot seem to find many options for our paired down party of 3 this late in the game.

I did keep one of our reservations for 6 because it's a must-do restaurant for us and we cannot get in as a party of 3 (any day, I checked everyday we will be there). I will keep checking to see if I can get a reservation for 3 but if not I'm hoping if I explain the situation when we get there, they will be able to accommodate us (we don't mind waiting if we need to).

For most of our reservations I was able to cancel our table for 6 and still get in with a party of 3, changed my times a little and was flexible with days so that helped I'm sure.

Does anyone know if you call do you have a better chance of getting a reservation vs. making them online or vice versa?

Good luck on getting your reservations for your group!

Try looking for tables of 4. Often times there will be availability for 4 but not for 3. It's one of the many quirks.

The online and phone take from the same pool. So, theoretically, there is no difference. (Some anecdotal experiences aside).

I was booking for 3 the other day and had a warning pop up that our party might be split into 2 tables - I changed times to avoid having a party of 3 split up! Forget which restaurant.

That warning seems to be almost standard now for all reservations, all locations. I wouldn't have any concern over that if you see it. They will seat you together, barring some really strange circumstances or very large party.

While I agree with the advise about trying to walk up, Disney in no way guarantees they will seat your new, larger party size. They will try, but there are no guarantees.
