I cannot for the life of me get a Grand Floridian Cafe reservation of 8, but it is giving me a ton of options for party of 6. Our group is 8 people, but it is 5 adults and 3 children (ages 1, 2 and 4), does anyone think I could get away with making the 6 person reservation for all 8 of us. Technically we only need 6 seats, the other 2 will be in high chairs.. opinions?

You'll need a spot for everyone in the party, unfortunately. You can try booking a party of 6 and a party of 2 and see if you can get them close together. Sometimes, for situations like this, I find that calling the dining phone number and talking to a person is easier.

Good luck!

That's exactly what I did.. 2 separate reservations, one for 6 and one for 2. I called and talked to 3 different agents and they all were having issues, it is a glitch that isn't allowing the grand Floridian cafe to be booked for more than 6 people. Hopefully I can have my 2 reservations combined in the near future.

Are the times of the 2 ressies close? When we did that once (party of 5 and 2 about 15 minutes apart), they were able to seat us at the same time and together. Hope it all works out for you!

You can call the dining line and see if they can add 2 more to your current reservation. If not, look online for another reservation for 2 at the same time as your current reservation, but you will need to put it in another person's name/account. When you arrive at GFC let the host/ess know you have 2 reservations and ask to be seated together. As much as possible the castmembers will try to accommodate, but there is no guarantee. Be prepared to wait longer since you will need a larger table or 2 tables next to each other.

Because of fire code regulations everyone, no matter how young, needs to included in every reservation. High chairs take up space and need to be placed where they will not block the aisles in case of emergency so they definitely count as a seat. It looks like you are going during Christmas so if this or any other restaurant is busy and you show up with a reservation for just six, there is an outside chance that you will have to decide which two in your group will not be seated and have to eat elsewhere.

Yes, we ended up getting 2 reservations (1 for 6 and 1 for 2) for the same exact time. Several cast members informed me that this was a glitch though, because Grand Floridian wasn't taking reservations for parties over 6. I got on RIGHT at 6 am, so there is no way they were all taken that quickly. I am going to call a few weeks before our trip and see if they can work some magic for us!

Our party of 8 had several split reservations and we were always seated together. Not saying it's guaranteed, but I think you'll be fine...

I think it'll be fine too! Im going to call a few weeks prior to our trip and see if they can combine the 2, since it was a glitch Im hoping they will be able to. If not, then we will hope for the best. If we have to sit separately, then my husband and I will just enjoy a quiet dinner while we leave our kids to sit with the grandparents :rotfl2:

Ha...that was our plan, too, but then they had to be all magical and seat us together

I have experienced being split up when we were a party of 8. So it may not happen very often, but it can happen!

And to the poster who thought the ADRs couldn't be gone right at 6 am, they could have been take by people who were able to book that date before you. Because of being able to book 180 days out + 10 days when staying on site.
