Ok, so we are planning on taking the family to Disney World for Christmas next year, here is what we are looking for:

A room that can house:
4 Adults
3 Kids, ages 6, 13 and 15
10 Day Tickets
Regular Dining Plan (Not the quick service plan)

I know we generally buy the tickets separately, I am not clear how the dining plan works with DVC.

We are open to any of the resorts, honestly we are looking for what is going to be our best price (if both are similar in price, we would obviously lean towards the DVC), either renting points or booking a room, so please PM me with the price that you are looking for and applicable details. As you can tell we haven't really done this before, we have looked into it before, but not as much as we should.

Just FYI, people cannot book for these dates until Jan 23, 2010. 2011 Point charts are not out yet, but to just go from Dec 23-Dec 31 would cost a minimum of 357 (and those rooms are not easy to get) points for a 2 BR to house all 7 people in question... My guess is you are probably looking at around 5-6000 in rental fees, just as an FYI.

As the previous posts said, nothing can be booked until later in January once you hit the 11 month window.

Xmas holiday period is one of the most desired periods at WDW so do not expect to get any deals on points. It looks like you are planning on staying for 10 days including 2 weekends so on a best case basis, you are looking at 500 points for a 2 bdrm villa. With it being the holiday period, a rental rate of $11-$13 a point is not unreasonable. Also, since you will need a large number of points, the market of DVC members willing to rent is smaller than if you only needed say 200 points for a studio, and this which further limits your flexibility.

Search the point rental board to see what people are currently offering.

The DDP works the same for people staying on DVC points as it does for those staying on cash reservations.

You could also look into renting two studios, which may reduce the number of points needed and make getting your reservation easier. Two rooms could mean renting from two DVC members, requiring less points from each.
