ROFR Thread Jan to March 2026 *PLEASE SEE FIRST POST FOR INSTRUCTIONS & FORMATTING TOOL*

Listings are way down, so sales have to also be down, and our little section of the internet is just a small fraction of purchases so its normal for the amount of postings to go down.

Speaking of which, our agent just emailed us to let us know that they just had a 30 point OKW 2057 contract get ROFR at $110 a point which was sent in 28 days ago.

Feels like OKW continues to be in the Disney crosshairs. I'm just surprised to hear they took an extended contract too.

I think if one says that they really need to be giving the reasoning behind the statement for sure.

I think not as many people are posting here not out of fear it's really just due to not as many people buying. Listings are way down, so sales have to also be down, and our little section of the internet is just a small fraction of purchases so its normal for the amount of postings to go down.
No, there are people who no longer will post in this thread because they know it has become the place where your deal has to be a killer deal.

For the record, I am talking in general and not about any specific post or poster, or specific situation. Just giving my perspective.

But, we can move back to topic of ROFR.

I think Disney just doesn't care to sell it off fast, they're pleased with how it's selling and don't need to move massive quantities at once, the math works out better for them if people just keep buying 150s-200s at a higher price per point.
I think I have seen that with most resorts, except the OKW fire sale. Where you would think DVC would give a huge break for buying a boatload of points but they dont. In some ways I am glad they don't or I may have caved to more direct points than I wanted.

Since I dont think they always go off price when buying back, Im not shocked by that $110, but I am shocked by it also being a 2057.

When i bought my blt contract, I had no idea the obstacles that could come from purchasing from an international seller. Maybe I thought that was best for me at the time of purchase, but it wasnt with what I know now. I would have liked it if someone told me.

Even if I went through with it, I now had knowledge I didnt have before. And i would never think to ask what obstacles there could potentially be because i didnt know there were any potential obstacles. People come here to ask for advice. The problem is, I feel, when people are so rude about it and judgemental and think they know everything and new people cant have any opinion.

And I admit I have been guilty of being opionated and could have been nicer at time times, something barely anyone here will admit about themselves, but I think that almost everyone that posts on here regularly is guilty of that and get so caught up in being right sometimes or there opinion that they believe in that they dont even know they could be hurting someones feelings. Some just dont care, but I think the majority here are good people trying to help.

I dont think a lot of new people know that they are overpaying when they post here and maybe they would like to know so they can rescind if they'd like. Thats why I think when said nicely, it could help them. I know many who give advice on here daily has sometimes taken their opinion farther than they should because they truly are trying to prevent someone from making a mistake.

Its the way we say it and like I said I am a work in progress that needs to work on this too. I have been rude to people that have been rude to me or others in the past and from now on I try really hard to be mindful of that and not waste my energy.

I have been corrected several times, to the point of considering leaving Disboards because it was so negative in the past. Nobody likes being corrected. There is a difference with good advice and being a jerk just to be right.

I also learned about waiving mf from an opinion I didnt ask for and although I was pissed at the time because of how they came at me (this is why im trying to say we all need to do it in a nice way including myself) thanks to them ive saved quite a bit of money in the end. So thanks for saving me money, unsolicted opinionated jerks! I win! (Many of you know my sense of humor by now 🤣🤣🤣)

I think a lot of it comes down to how unsolicited advice or input is offered. It’s one thing to say, you’re an idiot what are you thinking when someone has not asked your opinion and it’s another thing to politely suggest something to someone with a disclaimer that you’re just trying to be helpful, but please ignore if you’re not looking for any input. And, there’s a lot of in between ways to provide input. Of course, words expressed in written form without tone are often sometimes taken more forthrightly than if they were said in person. I generally find it a good rule of thumb to try and assume the person had very good intentions until proven otherwise. And, if someone says thanks, but no thanks, well, ok, time to move on.
In my quest to be a mindful poster, I have begun asking myself WWAD? (What would Airjay do?)

That is true, but when someone says "This isn't a good deal, you should rescind", they are using their own metrics to make that decision, and have no idea about the posters situation that made them decide to purchase in the first place.

And, while someone's intentions for analyzing and sharing why they think maybe the buyer could do better, those posters don't always take it that way, and as I shared, stop posting.

The bigger point was the original intent of this thread is no longer the intent....
People have said this to me before without knowing my intent so I agree with this 100%. We need the full picture before having any opinions on whether it could be good for someone or not. That has really bothered me before so glad this was pointed out

Wouldn't it actually be selling back 25 to Disney, and then renting out 26 and 27?

Regardless to the OP who bought the mammoth contract congrats neighbor :)
I was just curious. I don’t follow the direct pricing incentives as much anymore.

Also, I think I posted what a LOT of other people were thinking when they saw a mammoth contract at an actively selling resort that was stripped of points and had a delayed close.

It doesn’t mean it’s not a very good deal for the buyer, but IMO it’s worth the question for a DVC neophyte.

Oh btw when I saw that poly 1000 pointer the first thing I thought (before alert, alert oh my let's split this up 🤣) I thought to myself how incredibly lucky this person is to be able to stay at pit in any room they want year after year! What a blessing

I will say that is one reason I love these boards so much more than someplace like Facebook. I feel like we’re able to have very thoughtful conversations about something we all love and, although things do get heated once in awhile, the conversation tends to be pretty considerate, respectful, and helpful.

When I saw a 1000 pointer, my first thought is how jealous I am because I don't have over $100k to drop in one fell swoop. That would be so amazing!
