How exactly are the wait list ressies fulfilled? More specifically, if a ressie is canceled, is that room immediately checked against wait lists in an automated fashion? Or does that only happen overnight? If it only happens overnight, does that mean that today's cancellations will only be viewable starting tomorrow (after passing wait list review)?

No one here knows for sure. Most think that the waitlist process is a series of batch runs that are scheduled to run several times each day. So it is possible to "catch" a cancellation before it goes to a waitlist if you call at the right time and get lucky.

Once the batch program makes a match, that day is pulled out of inventory and put into a special file. It takes a human being to complete the new reservation. So even though you have a match, it may be a while until the new reservation is made and shows up on the members' website.

Now that resort confirmations are emailed, I wonder if a wait-list comes through if it automatically sends an email confirming the "new" reservation?

That would sure be nice!

I made a reservation for SSR from 11/27 - 12/3 but 12/1 was not available so i was put on a waitlist for just that 1 day. Once the waitlist came through i got an e-mail showing a link to my reservation and i saw that the waitlist came through.

I too, got an email when my waitlist came through. I had checked the DVC website in the morning and it hadn't come through or wasn't shown there. I then saw a message about my reservation in the afternoon and it showed that I now had a reservation for 11/29-12/2. The waitlist was for 12/1.

My waitlist hasn't come through and there is only one day left for it (8 days until arrival). I had to shift dates to arrive a day sooner and leave a day sooner = that day sooner is what I can't get. I'm losing hope now which means I will have to pay cash price (non-DVC even) for the night I was trying to get - and I had to make a change to the DVC reservation (drop the end date) so now I have more holding points than I wanted.

Oh well - that's part of the DVC game.
:sad2:

It just bugs me when there is availability for the villa I'm after from other sources (AP, regular rooms, etc) but they won't pull it into DVC when I want it - especially within 30 days.
:headache:
