If I call in and change my request say from pool view to Epcot view, will this change the date that I made my reservation. What I am trying to ask is ...... My understanding is that they grant requests to the best of their ability based on the date the reservation was made, the earlier the reservation the better chance you have of getting your request. If I call and make a change as far as my request (view) goes, will the date of the reservation update to todays date, instead of the date I originally made the reservation. Does that make any sense?

My understanding is that requests are honored in the order they were received. If you make a request along with your reservation at 11 months- the request would be dated at that time.

If you make a reservation at 11 months, but make a request at 2 months (or change a prior request), I'd assume the date you make the request is what determines the consideration in filling the request.

Perhaps a CM can clarify the policy used.

Thanks Doc, I was afraid of that. Really I was just going to clarify my request a bit, I had requested an Epcot view at BCV, but was going to call back and change it to an Illuminations view since I am hearing that some Epcot views will not have illuminations views. But I will just leave it as it is and hope for the best!. Thanks again!

just had occasion to ask about this yesterday.....

and the CM at MS assured me adding "requests" or making changes does not "alter" the date the reservation was confirmed....

but who knows....

we were changing two things.....

1. 2 guests to 4 guests

2. requested not to be assigned to "handicap"

i particularly asked if this would now put me down the list as far as "assigning"

and was told no.....the original date of the reservation was "honoured"

the reason i called them in the first place was that they sent me two confirmations.....one for 04/02 and one for 05/02 ( but they were both for the same thing ....nothing had changed...even the confirmation number was the same )

so i am not gonna hold my breath......but will question them if we are not handled for assignment based on the 04/02 confirmation...

if what doc says is true....maybe i will call once again monday to get a definative statement.....

Thanks for asking this question, Terry S - I have always wondered that, myself. In fact, I've resisted calling with modifications in the past for that very reason! Good to hear it won't bump you down on the list... (or up?!?) :)

and they told me the same thing - that it's not the date of the request that matters, but the date of the original reservation that determines the priority.

How about if you have been waitlisted and then get extra days added on to the original reservation?

Does your whole reservation still count as having been made when the first reservation was noted?

From a CM at MS, your seniority date is the date which the arrival date of the reservation is made. Ex: You have a ten night stay that you made the reservation for 11 months out. 8 days prior to arrival you either call and add a day to arrive a day early OR get a waitlist day for the day early. This means that your new seniority date will be 8 days from arrival rather than 11 months. Adding requests and chnging party mixes does not change anything. Only if you receive a new confirmation number/letter for the first night. This is when your seniority date changes. Hope this helps :)

Thanks, OKWExpert - if my waitlisted days come through they'll be at the end of my stay, so hopefully the original date of my reservation will stand.
