Ok from my name you can tell it has been a l-o-o-o-o-ng time since I have been to WDW (I remember the screens you used to talk to to make dinner reservations!!!).
Can someone help me understand how dining reservations work? I am more familiar with the restaurants in Epcot and wanted to know how I would go about booking a reservation for August.

Ok, you can book for August any time (the sooner the better). You decide where you want to eat and call WDW dining. Have your list of preferred restaurants ready as well as any acceptable alternatives. Then you say Aug, 22 at Le Cellier about 6, party of 4. The CM will tell you what they have available--what time. You can select something or ask them if they have a time you like better for another night at that restaurant.

Go thru your list of nights till you have all the ressies you want. If you can't get something, don't panic. You can call back later (next week) and try to change to something you like better. You can even call after you arrive at WDW--people do cancel ressies!

The ressies are called ADR (advance dining reservation), which does not mean that they keep a specific table for you. It means that you will be seated at the next available table for your party size. You are asked to check in at the podium 10 minutes before your specified time. You are supposed to be seated within 15 minutes of your time--so max wait should be 25 minutes...but usually it is much less.

:welcome: :wave2: to the dis.

To make advance dining reservations (ADRS) you need to call disney at 407-WDW-DINE. There is also a 1-800 number, but I can't remember it at the moment. Once you get a dining CM you just need to tell them the date, restaurant, # of people, and time you would like to eat at. They will tell you if it is available or not. you might not find your exact time is available, but they might have something close to it.

If you are not sure where to dine All Ears Dining Page is a great place to check out and read the menus. They seem to have the most up to date menus on the web.

The sooner you book them the better.
