Hi! I have been a long time lurker but this is my very first post.

Right now we are thinking about a camping trip to Ft Wilderness in a year or two. I am excited as it is something I have always wanted to do (husband not so much LOL) We homeschool so I am hoping to come during homeschool days either next year, 2012 or 2013. What I want most is to come at a less crowded time but still nice camping weather, if that makes sense. We have been to Disney a couple times and some of the family did not do well in the heat at all. Would the first 2 weeks of Oct be good?

I guess my big question is how far out do I need to book my site? We are tent campers. Obviously we do not know the homeschool dates for upcoming years yet, I was thinking just picking two weeks and hoping for the best. I called yesterday to ask prices and the lady I talked to said I could only make reservations a year out. Is that correct? That doesn't seem very long out as crowded as I always hear that it can be.

I am open to any advice. Thank You

October is good camping weather, we are going Dec (early) this year. October is Halloween time and its bcome very popular, we enjoyed the Halloween season alot, book early.

We're looking into our first Halloween visit as well and I'm leaning towards the first couple of weeks of October versus the last two weeks. This time also coincides with the EPCOT Wine and Dine festival, Homeschool Days {which my children are} and a 1/2 marathon for the missus plus a chance to check out the MNSSHP.

Oh yeah, and a bit of camping at the Fort as well ;).

I think it is 500 days.
I have already booked for November 2012. I made that ressie a few weeks ago.
If you are planning for October 2012, book now.
You can always adjust your dates later.

You can make reservations 499 days out. I booked in June for my Oct. 17-Nov. 3 2012 stay. Can't remember the exact day I booked. I would call back now if you want Halloween 2012. They count from the end of your stay.

Sadly it's Myrtle Beach in 2012 and back to the Fort in 2013. I've already got my 500 day reminder in my Outlook calendar so that I'm reminded to make this reservation (5/30/2012).

I really don't overplan these vacations at all :rolleyes1 .

Is it 500 days out?

I called yesterday to check prices and to see how far out I could book Ft Wilderness and the lady said a year!

That works for me as I love to plan the trips :goodvibes I am really thinking 2013, to give us more time to save up. That is really just around the corner

I'm so glad I asked

they won't have the rates for 2013 when you call either-too far out but they are right 499 days to reserve.
The first week in October could still be quiet HOT. I would say end of Oct. (Halloween) or first week in Nov. to be safe. Food and Wine is in full gear at EPCOT too.

You can book now for October 2012. I have already booked for December 2012. October is a great time to visit, and I highly recommend Mickey's Not So Scarry Halloween Party. It is the only time adults can dress up in costumes for the park. It is great fun for the entire family.
