We have a 17 night trip planned Oct 12 - 29. First 3 nights at OKW and the remaining 14 at BWV in a standard view studio.

Our son was originally scheduled to leave for basic training in the Air Force on Nov 8. A couple nights ago, he got a call that his reporting date has changed to Aug 23. Basic Training is 8 1/2 weeks which will put his graduation ceremony right in the middle of our trip. There's no way in the world we're going to miss his graduation ceremony which leads me to these questions.

1) If we leave WDW for 3 nights in the middle of our reservation and want add those 3 nights on to the end of our trip, we'll check out and then check back in 4 days later. I know we can use those points from the 3 nights for the additional nights we'll add at the end knowing we'll most likely change to a different resort for those last 3 nights. Might be some additional points needed since we have a BWV standard view. But here is the question, would we be able to keep the BWV standard view we have booked the week after we return from the ceremony or once you change a ressie like this, all the days after are cancelled and we'd have to rebook the last 10 days which would almost assuredly mean we wouldn't be at the BWV this late in the game?

2) If we would have to rebook all the days after we return to WDW, we'd most likely just not check out and our room would sit empty for those 3 nights so when we return we can have our BWV room as we LOVE the BW and are going specifically for the F&W Festival. Does WDW "check" to see if people are truly staying in the room each night and if we're not there, they'd possibly cancel the remainder of our trip? I realize we'd be forfeiting 3 nights worth of points, but it'd be worth it to us to keep the BWV room.

3) Unrelated to DVC, does anyone know if there are airline restrictions on taking a "trip within a trip"? We'll be flying on a roundtrip flight from Ohio to Orlando and back on Oct 12 & 29. In the middle of that trip, we'll be flying from Orlando to San Antonio and back. Are there any TSA or Airline rules that prohibit doing this?

Thanks in advance!

I don't think you can cancel nights in the middle of a stay without rebooking. I would call and ask, maybe it's different with this new system where you can "segment".

I don't think there's a problem with a separate flight.

In regard to your BWV booking - in 100% total honesty it is going to depend on the CM that you get. Some CM's are willing to do exactly what the guest wants, as long as it is within the rules. Others, think that any change to a reservation at all makes it a new booking, and thus, no understanding of how things SHOULD work.

You SHOULD be able to split your stay, leave for the three nights, and then come back to A room (not your room, that you had before) Chances are very slim of that actually happening!

You need to call member services, and explain the situation, and just cancel those three nights - and make two separate reservations. 'Your' room won't drop back into inventory during your call, so they should be able to pick it up right back up where you left off, to get you into a room.

As far as TSA - they don't care! It doesn't make a different, because technically most airlines don't actually sell a 'Roundtrip Ticket' anymore. They sell you a flight for your departure, and flight for your return - they aren't 'connected' as much as you would think. So your flight in the middle of your HOME to ORLANDO back HOME won't raise any flags or anything of that nature. You're good to go!

Just call members services to get your reservation taken care of!

Thanks for the responses guys.

We won't know for another week which weekend during our trip our son's graduation is, but once we find out, I'll give MS a call and see what they'll let us do.

Thanks again.

It's not prohibited. Basically, you're flying round trip from Ohio to San Antonio with a layover in Orlando each way. However, your airline may have some restrictions on how long you can layover, etc, so you'll have to check with them.

Also, airline fares make no sense to begin with, and it's possible that two seperate flights ((OH-MCO-OH and MCO-San Antonio-MCO) would actually work out less expensive than OH-San Antonio-OH with the layovers in Orlando.

You just need to check and evaluate all the options.

Just an update. MS allowed us to split the reservation without losing the BWV.

So now we're Checking in on Oct 12 for 3 nights at OKW. Moving to BWV on Oct 15 for 4 nights. Checking out on Oct 19, flying to San Antonio for 4 nights and checking back in on Oct 23 at BWV to finish out our trip. I also was within the banking window, so I banked 48 points for 2012.

On a side note, does anyone know whether BWV would store part of our luggage for those 4 nights? We'll have quite a pile of luggage for 17 nights and it'd be nice to only take a small bag for the 4 nights in San Antonio. If not, are there any other options for storing our excess luggage we won't need for those 4 nights?
