Reservation/points question

I made a reservation and had to borrow a few points. If I were to cancel this reservation (more than 31 days before check in) and make a new reservation that was less points, would the CM be able to use the borrowed points first for the new reservation leaving me with my current use year points to bank?

Yes, borrowed points can and should be applied to a reservation before current use year points.

Thanks for the quick reply. That is what I thought, but just wanted to make sure. I didn't want to lose any points.

That's what should happen, but it sometimes doesn't. Make sure that you tell the MS Adviser what you want them to do, then use the Member website to verify that it happened.

You probably already thought about this, but you must cancel the old reservation more than 4 months prior to the end of your UY so you can bank the points. Before the Rule of 4 was adopted a few years ago, this was less of an issue as some points could be banked up until a month prior to the end of your UY. Best of luck -- Suzanne
