I have three packages booked (2 guests each) at Boardwalk for 5 nights. Room #3 is no longer going but I haven’t cancelled yet as we are still 60+ days out. However Room #2 needs to add another guest that is not staying the full 5 nights. I have learned the hard way that you have to book room only and link tickets separately bc on a package all tickets have to be the same. BW is now sold out for our dates. Questions: 1. If I drop Room #3, will it show back up in inventory so I can immediately rebook (as room only with 3rd guest)? 2. Is there a way to modify existing reservation from package to room only - either online myself or by calling? I have played around online but didn’t really see any way….like I could modify tickets on package but no option to remove tickets. TIA!!!

Instead of messing with the reservation I would buy a separate ticket for the extra person and add them to the room when/after arrival for just the nights that person will be there. If you had a discount or anything it may get lost if you mess with the reservation.

Alternatively, you could drop tickets from that room making it a “basic package” (room-only with package terms for PIF). Then you can add the 3rd guest, and buy separate tickets for everyone in that room based on what each needs. I recommend buying the tickets first and linking so you don’t lose any park reservations.

this is what I attempted to do last year and it was a disaster even though the WDW person on the phone that I specifically called ahead of time told me I could do upon check in…then when we got to Beach Club they told us no, called more people over and still said no that everyone in the room had to be on package with matching tickets to be added to the reservation. Even though I had the ticket, and the guest could stay in the room, she wasnt eligible for deluxe hours or early entry and couldn’t use storm along bay since not technically a resort guest if not on the reservation. We wasted an hour of time and ended spending more money to add days to her ticket that we knew she wouldn’t use. Very frustrating!

i may try your second suggestion though. Thanks!

yeah, I vote for making your rooms into 'basic packages' and purchasing tickets separately. Link tickets to MDE accounts first.

For your question: Questions: 1. If I drop Room #3, will it show back up in inventory so I can immediately rebook (as room only with 3rd guest)? My answer is 'no'. Packages and room onlys are separate inventories, afaik. Also, I have dropped rooms before and checked to see if they go back to being available and I never see them added back.
