Reservation for autistic child

Hi, I've got a question. Has anyone here, with an autistic child, gotten Disney to block a room or a building for a reservation? We're planning on staying at All Star movies and I know what I want, what are the odds I'll get it? Thanks, Christine

I don't understand your question so I will go with I know. When making your ressie make sure that you express the needs for the autistic child. I request ground floor, medically necessary. He will fly over a balcony in a moment. I also ask for corner unit so if he makes noises it doesn't bother the other guest so much. Or that same for him. I have had a problem once with POFQ, it took over an hour to get straightened out but they did give us ground floor.

If you would explain what you need they do their best.

When we stayed at ASMo 2 years ago with our children who have ASD they did give us a room that was exactly what we had asked for, in the Toy Story Section, on the first floor, close to the action without being in major walk way areas. It was a quick walk to the pool, to the food court and to the car. It was perfect. But I also know that they cannot promise to put you exactly where you want and I am sure that we had a little bit of luck an dtiming on our side.

I agree that a lot would be luck and timing.

One thing to check out would be if the room/area you want is in a "preferred" area that is an extra cost. If it is, you won't get the room unless you have paid the preferred price.
Other than that, you got some very good advice already. The clearer you can be on what you need, the easier time they will have finding a room that fits your needs.
Also, when you check in, ask them to show you on the map where the room is so you can see if the location looks like it will work.

You could try contacting the Special Reservations number (the number is listed in the disABILITIES FAQs thread). As far as I understand, they only block wheelchair accessible rooms, but they might be able to help you out.

Thanks for the advice. This is such a friendly place. I've been on other sites for several different things and it could be pretty icy. I am going to call the Spec. Res. line today and the corner room idea is great. I think I'm going to have to pay more for a preferred room but that's ok. I think the corner room and being close to the bus stop will be my priorities. Thanks again.

We've always been pretty lucky with our requests with our ASD son. We also never asked for anything more than absolutely necessary i.e. close to bus stop, pool. The only time we had a problem was when we checked into ASMovies very early one morning. We had requested Toy Story or Dalmations and it wasn't available. It was in the middle of an already difficult trip with our son and at that time, we just wanted to be in a room. If we were in a position to wait, I'm sure they could have honored our requests, but it was our choice not to wait. We just needed to get him into a room at that time to let him "chill" before we went to the parks. It also depends on the time of year of your trip. If it's a very busy time i.e. Christmas, Easter, etc. it could be tough to get your requests.
