Reservation Ever Not Been Honored at Checkin?

As low as they were, the same rates/prices were reflected across the board on several websites for approx 48 hrs. Orbitz, Southwest, Travelocity, etc buy up blocks of rooms from Disney and can fire-sale at whatever price they wish.

I WISH we could get those low prices again this year! :sad1:

If you book a room through one of those sites - can you also add the DDP?

you cannot add a dining plan unless you book directly with disney or through a dvc member. most likely the case with southwest, etc, reservations last year and disney honoring it, it is because you pay southwest/orbitz/travelocity the amount you agree to and they in turn provide their own credit card to disney (usually a mastercard) to cover room/tax expenses. even if they raised the rate to a proper rate, disney would bill orbitz/southwest and it would be up to those companies to seek the increased costs from you. I had numerous instances when I worked at a hotel where a guest would leave a day or two early and ask for a refund. Because the hotel never had charged the guests personal credit card in the first place, I always had to inform them they needed to seek a refund from priceline/orbitz/etc. Generally, that is why you "prepay" for the entire amount when booking the reservation, regardless if you can cancel or not.

There have been posts where people arrived at the resort and they were overbooked for either their room category or for the resort itself. They were moved to either a different room category or a different resort.

I recall those posts also, and I'm pretty sure everyone got an upgrade where they were "walked" from a value to mod/deluxe or mod to deluxe, or deluxe to another with a nicer category based on availability. If you are inconvenienced by having to move, they tend to do something to make it better for you. There were also posts when the DVC construction was going on at Jambo House that guests were contacted before their trip and offered another deluxe resort. In some cases, people refused and they just moved on down the list to someone else. I remember someone on their honeymoon who was initially disappointed but ended up at the GF for the same price and were eventually happy that they chose to move.---Kathy

We once book a preferred room at Pop and found when we got there that they had overbooked the preferred category. Not only did we get stuck in a Pop standard room, but we had to argue to get the price difference refunded to my credit card.:headache:

MissyTara has posted on here that she had once booked a waterview room at PORS almost a year before. When she arrived at PORS they told her they had moved her over to CSR due to overbooking with the Pop Warner kids. She refused CSR and demanded either her water view room or a deluxe resort. Their response was they would either move her to CSR, she could take a standard room at PORS, or she could go home.

I started this thread and just returned from our vacation. Our reservation was for 6 nights at Riverside with QSDP. The QSDP was listed on the reservation, but for some reason it did not show a price for it. It looked like it was free dining. At check-in the resort added the price for the dining plan. I showed them a printout with the price listed on the reservation. After some discussion I ended up getting an extra $100 taken off my bill as an "Inconvenience discount". Free dining would have been nice, but the extra $100 off was better than nothing.
