Reservation before closing on resale

We just agreed on a BWV contract and would like to know if anyone knows if this is possible. Can the current owners make a reservation for us before the closing is official. I understand that we have to go through ROFR, but would the reservation be cancelled when the title is changed if we do make it through? We are in need of opening weekend of Food and Wine for the Wine and Dine half marathon.

No, you would not be able to close with a standing reservation. In the past, everyone thought that standing reservations were cancelled, but now we have come to know that the postpone the closing until after the reservation.

I had an agreed on contract when the owners took a quick trip and used some of the points. The agent called me and explained what had happened and asked me if I wanted to cancel or not.

They were good to catch what had happened and did give me the chance to back out, I decided to continue, but DVC exercised ROFR anyway.

So, it is possible for that to happen, but your agent should catch any activity like that before closing.

The reservation would be canceled at closing, however, you could potentially travel before closing and a reservation could be made and then you could try to reschedule it once you were in the system. If you wanted to travel before closing, just build in enough deposit to cover the value of those points.
