Reservation Assistance Please

I found out yesterday that the first day of my reservation is the day DS will be taking an exam. Luckily I have not made airline reservations yet. I made the DVC reservation at the 11-month window and don't want to lose my place but have some questions for DISpros:

Can I contact MS and move the reservation by one day so that I would check in on Sunday rather than Saturday or would I have to cancel the entire reservation and make a new one? I would still stay for 7 nights if possible.

Could I contact MS and tell them I won't be checking in until Sunday and lose high points for Saturday night (not the option I prefer)?

I appreciate any guidance you can provide.

You can drop the first day of your reservation without any penalty if you are more than 31 days out from your check-in. If they have availability, they can add a day to the end of your trip. (I think that's what you also asked.) If you are less than 31 days from arrival, the points for your cancelled night will go into a Holding Account which can be used for making reservations within 60 days of arrival. Holding Account points can't be banked but will have to be used before the end of your Use Year.

PamOKW - thanks for your quick response. I went online to look in the guide book I am still waiting for mine to arrive but I wasn't quite sure how this worked. Thanks for the information. I'm going to call MS in the morning to drop the first day. I hope that the following Saturday night will be available. Annmarie
