Resale then add-on

Has anyone purchased a small add on contract (100 points or less) and then added on through Disney?

I called DVC today and the guy there told me that you can not buy add ons through Disney until you have an aggregate of 150 points, preferably a 150 point Master contract.

Just wondering if this information was correct?

That is NOT true unless they've recently changed their policies. It has always been that once you're in, you can add on direct through Disney in any number of points, with a 25 point minimum (or 50 point minimum if you want to finance).

A couple of weeks ago, we closed on a 25 point Vero Beach contract. We did not really want to own in Vero Beach, but finding a small contract with the use year we wanted was very difficult. Within 2 days of getting into the system, we called and immediately added on 55 points at Hilton Head. Had those points in our account within 24 hours. Since we don't really want to own at Vero Beach, eventually we will sell that contract. Now if we had wanted a different use year, then we would have had to purchase the 150 point minimum.

The other thing that I had found interesting was that financing an add on was super easy.

I have a 100 BWV contract that I bought through the Timeshare Store 3 years ago and I am currently on the waiting list with Disney for a BWV add-on... so my guide (yes, they assigned me an official guide) had no problem with it.

I too purchased a smaller contract via resale (40 pts OKW) and then did an add-on at SSR last year. Once you are in the door, they will have no problem whatsoever in taking more of your money! However, if you wanted a "new" contract with different names, different UY, then you would have to get at least 150 new points for that new contract, but if you are just adding on to a contract then you can do 25 pts and up.

I closed on a 50 pt. HHI contract last week that I bought through resale and then added 50 pts. at SSR Wednesday with out a problem in the world. I actually had all my points about 4 hours later to book a reservation and bank the 2005 points I received since the use year on the resale contract is december. We even got 2 one day one park passes as well as a great bonus. So there is no problems with buying small and adding on at all, it was so easy and really pretty much hassle free.
