Resale shopping again.. my heart wants one thing but my head says another. Give your opinions.

Congratulations on your decision! This thread has been quite the odyssey!

Not that it matters in the least, but I think you made a great choice. I have often thought about adding on a little bit at Copper Creek just to be able to occasionally get in around the Christmas holiday. Of course, I often think about adding on a little bit pretty much everywhere. 😆

This, I’ve been following this thread and feel the same way!

@VGCgroupie Congratulations! Thank you for taking us on this journey with you, it’s been entertaining & a great read.

Have some BWV could always use more, but really kinda want (need) some CCV now also.

Oh and I did the math for how much the low point chart saves us over time at BWV vs BLT. Tried to guesstimate value of BWV in the future and in the end I will spend more to be at BWV but not as much as you'd think since the point chart is so good. I am really gambling on DVD throwing current owners a bone for whatever happens in 2042, but thats for another thread I suppose.
Here’s a chart I made last year just to see how the pt charts have grown and to talk myself into more BWV pts even with the 42 expiration.

It might help you even though it’s not comparing BLT. I was comparing BWV to the newer resorts point charts and was surprised how much more they are coz I never really paid attention that close before.

PVB view for view avg 46% more pts needed for a 2 bedroom
If you go for a lesser view @ PVB it’s still 31% more
So my math (in my head) tells me BWV is an excellent deal, lol😉

What is the likelihood of you using BWV points elsewhere or having to combine with CCV? I’d give real thought to getting points in your Feb UY if you ever want a Resort or Boardwalk view studio or 2br at BWV. It is pretty much a requirement to walk these rooms, so a Dec UY will be a killer if you want to stay in December.
I would say possible. Maybe not even my CCV/BWV but I would need to use my Dec membership to book any MM stays also and those all happen at WDW. My Feb UY holds my VGC and AUL points. So is walking hard for a Dec with a Dec UY due to a new year starting on 12/01?
The thing about the Feb UY is that for the holidays you’d be in the danger zone and unable to bank if you cancel.
Yeah when I got Dec and Feb UY it was based off going in April or February, wasn't planning on the holidays.

I used to, I can say I successfully squashed my occasional urge to buy cheap SSR. The rest though...

I love this! Excited to show it to my husband.

Yes, exactly. People will start walking those rooms much earlier, and you will get stuck trying to cross the use year, or won’t be able to start until 12/1 (at which point there’s slim to no chance of picking up the studios). You will be ok with 1br and / or some pool view rooms categories.

So crazy. I am willing to bet that makes my CCV contract w/ a Dec UY less valuable upon resale if I ever sold it.

It does make it less valuable for people who (a) want to stay at the holidays and (b) understand availability and walking. It’s always been less desirable for people who want to go for Food+Wine and Thanksgiving anyway.

Of course, Disney could always crack down on walking and/or spec renting which might ameliorate the walking handicap, but I wouldn’t bet on it.

Im willing to bet that most people that purchase dont really understand how important the uy is or at least i didnt at first 🤣🤣

Just saw a photo on FB that made me realize staying at BWV w/ a Boardwalk View I wont have to see the ugly Swolphin in my view. Really takes away from BW when look at it from Beach Club.
We have a GV booked for our 3 night stay next March with 4 people to insure the BW View.

I’d switch to a 2BD if it opened up, but my points didn’t load until after the 11m mark and the day in the middle of the trip is booked.

The joke is that every boy gets their own room and my wife is stuck with me! 🤣

A BW GV is only 35 more points than a VGF 2BD with LV.

Enjoy that GV #worthit I also cant believe that points are loaded already for your BW purchase. Time flies!

We will be keeping CCV.

We are not buying BLT now or ever
I am probably going to add on at BWV
I am so happy for you!
I did the math for how much the low point chart saves us over time at BWV vs BLT.
Well, BLT rooms cost like 20% more than BWV in terms of points. But "over time" you get to access more points from BLT after 2042, therefore the yearly "devaluation" rate could be different. So, I wouldn't agree on the math. But anyway, we go with our hearts, not just the "value" 😄
Also, you have DLR, so who cares about MK 😆

Yeah we for sure spend more buying BWV but not as much as I had thought. Im going to redo my calculations again tonight and I will post them here. But I think it was I spent around $6,000 more over the life for BWV than BLT once points are factored in.

Okay everyone we re-ran the numbers in regards to how much the point chart at BWV saves us for our particular stays vs BLT and CCV. Since we don't know if the way we did this is actually 100% accurate I wont share the specific data but we ran it several different ways and used what I would be willing to pay for each resort and what the resort would sell for (BLT,CCV) in 16 years using todays money not factoring in inflation.

For our specific situation, BWV actually makes more sense financially than BLT when comparing our 1 bed and 2 bed stays in a theme park view vs a boardwalk view. When I ran the numbers doing resort view vs resort view I would spend more to own Boardwalk.

Then there is CCV.... what a dark horse CCV is. My husband was so shocked he said "wow maybe we should buy more CCV". We wont be doing that because my heart still wants Boardwalk. But if you guys are in the market for something that has incredible value and don't want the sacrifice of owning the resorts of last resort, CCV is a clear winner based on our calculations. Granted you aren't getting a "view" with your stays. The value is so good I could cry that I made that decision to buy when I was a novice to all this DVC stuff.

This actually has me deciding that I likely will not be selling CCV any time soon even for LL

CCV has always struck me as the best SAP+ option and I sometimes wish I had purchased it instead of VGF as my first resale purchase…though I suppose in early 2023 the value wasn’t quite as compelling and we were spending more time at MK with Tron opening. At least I can console myself that BPK studios have 3 sleeping surfaces.

It seems to me that many of the views at CCV are quite pleasant. I don’t know how many of them are meh or worse…but I think CCV is for a certain type of traveler who doesn’t need to feel like they are “right in the heart of Disney parks” while they are at the hotel…. Our first few years of heavy Disney travel, I wanted to be right up against the parks at BCV/BWV/VGF.

For sure not superb views and doesnt feel like many of the other resorts being so close. But the value of low point chart and long contract is amazing. I havent dove into sleeping surfaces yet since we are either 3 of us or 6 of us. I should do that and learn the floor plans.

Isnt CCV the best overall value long term as far as maint dues, length of contract, etc? I def considered it as well for these reasons. I believe it was BLT and CCV but dont quote me on that
