That’s right. The category is Boardwalk/Preferred view. That’s why I mostly only find Pool/Garden view Would love to stay there once and visit EPCOT when it’s cooler

Okay this is a pretty great thing for CCV and I can see huge value in it. TBH I never payed close attention to point charts and how much they vary.


What I found that I had no idea about was you are paying the same points for Boardwalk view and Pool/Garden view. I’m sure that is not news to everyone but I had to triple check that I was seeing things correctly. My mind is blown.

Yeah, BW used to just have standard or preferred booking categories but in the early 2000s they split the preferred booking category into pool/garden or boardwalk, likely because there aren’t many boardwalk view villas & everyone booking preferred requested boardwalk view & complained to the poor CMs when they ended up looking at the pool or canal .
OKW’s near hospitality house category costs the same # of points as regular villas too but are likewise separate booking categories.

That's why I love owning at BWV. Access to the Boardwalk view is very tough to get otherwise and it is my favorite view to upgrade to at WDW.

@sndral is correct above - at first, BW view was just a request we could make when booking Preferred. When they separated them into booking categories, they did the easy thing and kept the points costs the same.

Reportedly, some complaints developed into full blown meltdowns. I still remember the disappointment when we’d realize our villa was on the “wrong” side of the BW wing. It was a relief when they created the two booking categories, because then that question was answered when we booked.

I do like Beach Club better than Boardwalk, actually! I'm on team husband

I especially like the Yacht Club lobby. If there was ever a DVC at YC I'd definitely buy

Funny enough his companies doors are in Beach Club and he reminded me of that. I quickly reminded him they are in Boardwalk too. His company chose to only frame and put Yacht Club on the wall of the office though

They are hidden doors . They are all inset inside the walls and pop out during an emergency to lock the place down. If you know what to look for you can see them otherwise you probably don’t know they are there.

What did he think about the fake entrance doors at the Wilderness Lodge?
I'm talking about the giant wooden (?) ones that are bolted open at an angle, while you walk through conventional sliding glass doors.

Oh man, you reminded me of our very first visit, long ago when guests could ride with the monorail driver. My very first view of Spaceship Earth was from the front of the monorail, and that "tour" of Epcot as you swing around was amazing. That trip was never duplicated for me.

Wait, so you don't buy souvenirs from places you visited and loved, just because you don't own property there? Wow.

We've still got our monorail driver's licenses from riding upfront to MK and circling around Epcot. That was back when my 32 yo was around 5yo.
