"Capt Cooks" on the map is the Poly QS and located within the Great Ceremonial House. It's a nice pit stop if it's extremely hot and sunny out.

GCH is Poly's Great Ceremonial House/lobby. It's the central point at the resort so you can cut through there and get a drink or a Dole Whip and continue the walk to TTC.

Understood about SSR! You want to see the good and bad everywhere.

You can walk the beach path further away from the Great Ceremonial House and see them up close!

I bet if you asked about a bungalow during the PVB IT open house a guide would take you over if one was unoccupied.

I would just skip SSR, there’s really nothing to see there, you’ll regret wasting valuable holiday time there
Im not that bothered about DS either, it’s just an overpriced outlet but World of Disney or Lego shop may be worth a 10min browse
You could take a trip to the best DVC resort, AKV Jambo has such a relaxing vibe it just melts your stresses away, even do some animal spotting at the savannah overlooks (free of course)

I’m a total noob when it comes to transportation at WDW. Does this seem okay transportation wise? The goal is to experience most travel options at most resorts. Also if this seems like way too much travel for each day let me know.

Day one
Check in and Walk BLT to MK.
Spend some time at MK
Boat or Monorail to Poly for tour by 1:30pm
Walk from Poly to VGF
Boat or Monorail from VGF to TTC to Epcot Monorail
Spend some time at Epcot
Bus or Monorail from Epcot to BLT

Day 2
Checkout and Bus from BLT to HS
Spend some time at HS
Skyliner to RIV by 1:30 for tour
Bus from RIV to DS
Boat from DS to SSR
Bus from SSR to MK

Boat from CCV to Ft Wilderness and CFW tour if available also to see Ft Wilderness grounds

Personal preference, but I would change Day 2 as follows:
Skyliner to IG after RIV tour
Walk through Epcot (it's Flower & Garden festival after all!)
Bus from Epcot to DS

Might be too late, but consider the horse-drawn carriage ride at FW!

ETA: I just realized you have Epcot in day 1. If you're going to Epcot, I like the idea of walking all the way through to the IG and then Skyliner to RIV, but idk if that is workable for you.

I was there a couple of weeks ago. We were at WL and wanted to see the cabins at FW. The boats don’t run between the resorts until after 3pm. We took a Lyft over. It was very fast and around $10. We were dropped off at the front parking lot and then took a bus from the Outpost to the Settlement area where the models were located. Then we took a boat to MK from there. I believe the open house was between 12:30 and 1:30 just like the PVT, but the DVC cast member in the WL lobby will be able to confirm.

I'll admit that as a long-time BWV owner, I'm prejudiced. When we stayed at BLT, we loved walking to MK. But we got tired of walking over to CR, riding up to the monorail station, riding to TTC, and having to transfer to the Epcot monorail, then reversing the route on the way back. (That may be the trip when we found out we spend more time at Epcot than at MK.) A similar thing happened when we stayed at AKV-Kidani; after a week, we got tired of riding buses everywhere. We're just spoiled by being able to walk or boat to Epcot and walk, boat or now Skyliner to DHS.

We initially justified buying into DVC by saying it was a way to prepay our accommodations at a place we loved returning to year after year, so yes it was a financial decision. But over the years, we started saying it was the best thing we ever did for our family, because family vacations are for our hearts.

Besides, a lot can change in your life in the next 16 1/2 years. Buy what your heart says now, or wait until you actually stay at BLT and decide whether you love it just as much. Sixteen years is a long time to stay in one place while wishing you were in another.

Absolutely agree! Yes, 2042 is the expiration date for BWV, but that just means don't over-pay what you believe it is worth. Getting a lot of years of enjoyment is all the justification I'd need.

PS I’ve been following this thread, and I’m super excited about your impromptu research trip! I love spontaneous travel and DVC research is the perfect reason to do it. We own at VGF and SSR. I absolutely love the Grand Floridian! We use the SSR points as sleep around points mainly. Twice to Aulani with those so far (we live in California). Can’t wait to read about your DVC thoughts after this trip!

Doing my daily stalking and a bungalow just became available, so there is a slight chance it will be empty the day we will be there, so maybe t hey would be willing to show us. Im not baller enough to book it this trip though.

Have you been to Downtown Disney in Anaheim? How does it compare?
The only reason we were skipping AKV was because we stayed there last month.

We will stroll through. I was 2 stamps short of my free dole whip from last visit so I am for sure going to secure that bad boy.
That carriage ride seems so special! I have seen it on TV but it honestly never dawned on me that you could actually book it.

Disney Springs is much bigger than Downtown Disney. However, for me, the big draw is the World of Disney store in either shopping district. Otherwise, I only go to DS if I'm craving a food, like Chef Art Smith's famous weekend brunch.

Love World of Disney I could drop some serious cash in there at DLR especially when driving since there is room for all the goodies.. If I know us we will get sidetracked and likely need to cut something out, I might leave out DS if that happens and save it for another trip when my son is with us for the balloon ride or water cars

Oh you’re preaching to the choir ! I’m exactly the same way. Returned home beginning of May, after another 10 day glorious VGF trip, and dove into researching add-on contracts. Ultimately added a 50 point direct add-on at VGF, making all of our points there direct (our SSR points are all resale points). We opted for direct, even though it was a hefty price upfront, because I wanted the ability to use those points at CFW, RR, VDH, Lakeshore, and any future properties.

I grew up in Iowa and am/was well aware of the slur. Sadly, it was a common one to hear in the 90s.

Yes, lots of people definitely are…. in fact some people are raving fans of it.

But, IMO an individual should make sure that their family is OK with it before purchasing there because not everyone is.

I have no desire to ever go on the Skyliner. It freaks me out. I get nervous just looking at it on our walk from the bus stop to HS.

I am super sensitive to smells. I have never noticed a distinct smell on the DLR monorail. Im going to get on the monorail when we go for good measure. But I do not see myself liking it if it smells.

We did the whole resort monorail loop while waiting for our BRV room to be ready. I didn't notice a smell....but it was January so not super hot out. And I was wearing a mask. But I feel like those little cars could get smelly in warmer months!

I'm really looking forward to hearing what you think of all the resorts/transportation when you get back! The only DVC we've ever stayed at are BRV and VGC. Some of the transportation options have me more hesitant to want to stay at some of the resorts.
