Ok looking at a 150 pt loaded resale contract. We want to get it mainly to stay at Aulani (DVC Hawaii) next year. With the new resale restrictions, will we be able to use them for it?

As of now, yes. Who knows what DVC will do in the future though.

aulani is a DVC resort. so if it is available at 7 months out, you can use a resale with a non-aulani home resort to book it.

but it might not be available at 7 months out regardless. you never know...

Yes indeed as Aulani is a Disney Vacation Club resort.

The real estate interest (Membership) that you purchase through The Timeshare Store, Inc.® will not be eligible to use those Vacation Points to make reservations within the Concierge Collection, the Disney Collection or the Adventurer Collection. Those Vacation Points will instead be valid for reservations at Disney Vacation Club resorts, as well as for the RCI® exchanges, Club Cordial and Club Intrawest.

So Jason, I guess that will include the new Villas at Grand Floridian too even though it's connected to the Grand Floridian, which is part of the Disney Collection? I've never really heard of Club Intrawest or Club Cordial. How does that work? :confused3

Thanks!

No, you will be able to use resale points at the GFV because those will be part of the Disney Vacation Club. Once they are built, the Grand Floridian will be removed from the Disney Collection.

Once a WDW resort has DVC villas, you can no longer use points to stay in the hotel portion--ie: when BLT was opened, the CR came out as an option.

Just be aware that if you own outside of WDW and have to wait until the 7 month mark to book, you have to be extremely flexible in resort and room size. You may even find yourself in a situation where you will be forced to split stay at different resorts.

There are certain times of the year that are really popular with DVC members.

Always remember, though, that you are buying a right to stay at your home resort only and will have the option to use other DVC locations as long as your resort stays part of the "club". Disney reserves the right to remove any resort from the club. While I don't think it is likely, it's within their rights, and I think everyone should at least know that going in.

Good luck!

Club Cordial and Club Intrawest are 2 timeshare companies, the only 2 that currently link with DVD's own licensed timeshare exchange company, Buena Vista Trading Company (BVTC). CI has a number of US and CAN option but not all are on the exchange list. Club Cordial has several Austrian options on the list and one Italy resort, again, not all of their option are listed. CI options included are MX, Destin, Palm Desert, Whistler, Quebec, Ontario and Vancouver. The way it works is that each side allows the other to book ahead subject to availability but they put a stop on it if one side gets too far ahead. You can book at 7 months out for CI or 10 months out for Club Cordial. You can book as few as 1 night and simply pay points for the number of nights reserved. The price isn't that far out of line, certainly not like DCL or the other Disney non DVC hotels but it's a little more than RCI. The ability to book directly and know you're set is a major plus.
