Resale restrictions, possible option by Disney?

I agree with your personal strategy for evaluating a DVC purchase. I would love it if Disney shared your conclusion. I just don't think they do.

It's funny, if we had bought direct we wouldn't have as many points as we do, which allows use to go every year now. Instead, we would be going every other year, thus spending 1/2 as much at WDW on tickets and dining. Seems so short sighted for such a large and storied company to be making.

They do appear to be very short sighted, but resales don't put any money in MR Potrocks pocket so why would he care.

No, resale buyers will never be shut out of changing resorts since in order to do that, the resort has to be removed from the club. And once removed, all owners there would be restricted. I do think that there is a way to make it so resale buyers have a shorter window for changing resorts, and you are only guaranteed a one month advantage. But, as already mentioned, it may have to be something more like a VIP system, then just that.

But, I don't ever see any of this really happening because they are still selling points with what is in place and until that slows down to a point where people are not buying at all, things will remain the same. But JMO!

You are guaranteed a 1 month advantage as the home resort which would make those owning at other resorts able to book at 10 months out. As I read it I don't see how they could legally or contractual make it different with the current DVC plan other than if they did so as a VIP system which would affect those with qualified points also.
