Quick question and I'm sorry if this has been asked a million times...

I know with the changes in resale you can't book outside the DVC resorts but, can you still get the regular DVC AP discount? (I know this may change in the future, just asking for now.)

Thanks!

Right now if you buy resale you can use points at DVC resorts and with RCI. And they do still currently have DVC AP pricing.

Right now DH and I own points and my parents own points, both purchased years ago when I was a CM so they were SUPER cheap but my sister does not own any. Up until now we've always provided hotel accommodations for them in exchange for them paying for the rental car, but now that we have a child and my sister has a child we just don't have enough points so they're looking at buying, but buying direct is crazy expensive compared to resale.

The things they lose with resale are Disney cruises and Disney collection and those things aren't the best use of points (eats way too many points). They are still able to get discounted APs and the DVC discounts on certain restaurants and can get the TIW card for $100. So they don't lose a whole lot by buying resale.

We purchased our contract via resale a few years ago and have used the DVC discounts every year. The discounted AP pricing is available to the resale contracts (just bought our second set last month), as well as dining and shopping discounts!

To sum it up you lose nothing that is of value.
