My DH-to-be doesn't believe that one can purchase a resale for a certain amount of money one time and only pay maintance/ annual fees yearly for such a good price? he wants to know the other yearly costs?
So from the initial cost of buying into DVC.. what else are you looking at cost wise?

he wants to know the other yearly costs?

There are no other yearly costs unless you count the costs of your trips to WDW every year. Those Annual Passes end up costing a lot.;)

I purchased a resale and there really are no hidden costs. It is the same as buying from Disney except less expensive, you have to provide your own financing and the closing costs are negotiable (most of the time paid by the buyer unlike through Disney where they pay them).

One time cost for 200 points around $17000 for SSR from Disney. One time cost around $15000 for a resale. It will vary somewhat by home resort, number of points and the amount of points available. I've included the closing costs in the resale estimate to make it an apples to apples comparison. Yearly fees in the range of $800 per year, a little less for some and a little more for others.
