We would like to add on to our existing membership.

We have a February use year. We were told that we are better keeping a February use year because if we have different use years then we can encounter many nightmares (ex: having to bank at different times, having two contract numbers so therefore having to transfer points when wanting to book and only being able to transfer once a year etc) What do you think. Is it really better to have the same use year.

Also, I know that if we add-on through Disney then we can keep the same member number (we would be adding on to our existing contract). My question is, if we decide to add-on through resale, will we have two member numbers and therefore encounter the same problems as if we would have two use years.

One last question, is there a way to know in advance what the incentives are on a cruise.

Thank you, I appreciate it.

We closed on a addon resale about a month ago. The contract was for the same use year and at the same resort. Everything is now listed under our existing account and we did not need to get a new member account number. The key to this is that you need to make sure the owner information matches exactly on your existing contract and the new contract. Hope this helps.

If you buy another Feb use year contract. either through Disney or via resale, you will have one member number and your new contract number will have a different extension. For example your current contract is probably something like xxxxxx.0 and your new contract would be xxxxxx.1. I've read of some owners who have extensions in the .20 - .30 range.

Of course if you buy a new use year, you will have two different member numbers and two different contract numbers. Its really not as bad as some make it sound to coordinate two different use years. One thing I would recommend to make your life easier is if you have multiple home resorts, try to keep each resort add on within the same use year. That way you'll be treating each resort as a separate timeshare.

So does that mean that it absolutely has to be the same resort. We are members at BLT but were actually considering others resorts because of the price.

As long as the UY match, you should have the one membership number. You could choose a diffrent resort if you wanted to. As pp mention, the information on the deeds need to be exact and it is wise to let the title company and DVC to know to be on the look out for the contract so they can add it to the existing membership.

Just in case you were not aware, Disney will always give you the same UY for add ons, which will fall under the same member # for any resort you want.

If you want a different UY, or you want to add on and title it differently, you must add on the minimum (as if you were a new buyer) and in these cases, you would end up with a new member #.

Good luck!
