Hey everyone! We are looking to buy a resale *** contract of about ***pts sometime after Christmas or early spring. I contacted my guide who is on the lookout for one with the right UY and told me it is $101pp. It seems to me that The Timeshare Store is cheaper. Anyone have any opinions they can offer? I would rather deal with Disney b/c I like their financing program but there seems to be a big price diff. TIA! :goodvibes

The real question is if you feel that financing thru Disney is worth $2,500 which will be the approx. difference between resale and purchasing direct. For me the answer would be no and we did our VWL purchase thru resale earlier this year. Closing will take longer, but the savings were more important. I think the only times I would consider purchasing the points directly from Disney on the sold out resorts would be if I were buying 50 or less and/or I needed them immediately.

One point on the resale is to watch and see if the contract is stripped or not. If not, then your comparing apples to apples with what Disney is offering. If it is stripped then the resale price should reflect that or your savings will not be as great, although you would probably still realize some savings over direct.

Thank you..what you said made sense. It's definitely not worth that $2500, assuming I can get a comparable interest rate to Disney's 10.75%.

You could do many different things w/financing. We did a Home Equity Line of Credit. Made the most sense for our situatution. We got 3.99% and can deduct interest from our taxes. Many people finance many different ways, you just need to find what is best for your family.

As far as the savings...we bought resale and feel we saved a ton. We knew what we could spend and thought we would buy 100 points from Disney and add on in future. Then we looked at resale and found we could buy 150 points for same $$. For us resale wasn't about spending less money. It was for getting more points!

We already have 3 SSR contracts through Disney but all of them were bought new. That's why I am pretty new to resale since obviously that is where I will have to go for ***.

Thanks..all this information is great! :thumbsup2

I should have said our resale was purchased thru the TSS and it went very smooth. Although it can take 30-60 days from offer to close, it was well worth it for the savings. Great to deal with and they do offer financing as well. I believe 9-11%.

We just bought our VWL contract this September. We considered both Disney and The Timeshare Store. We went with the Timeshare Store. We paid $80.00 a point for 170 points, with some banked points as well. The timeshare store was great to deal with, I would recommend them to anyone.
(We dealt with Jamie)

If you are buying a VWL contract I would definately go resale. The contract that Disney is going to sell you is the same as a resale, but $20.00 or more per point. Disney's incentives are great, but as far as I'm aware, they are only for the SSR, AKL and BLT.

You're right..Disney quoted me today $101pp and no incentives! :confused3

I thought we weren't allowed to advertise interest in selling or purchasing a specific location/point size contract on the boards?

The OPs posts have been edited to remove resort and point specifc informaton. Overall the post is a question about an add-on contract at a sold-out resort from Disney or Resale.
