resale contract adding to current dvc contract?

ok, i've read here that when you do resale with the same use year, they can add the second resale contract to the first.

I also saw your suppose to call dvc and let them know. Who do I call?
Is it member services or my old guide, or someone else to let them know another contract is coming along? We just passed RofR and got our final closing paper work. We had it titled in the same manner as the first.

They will often catch that when the closed contract passes thru the system, but I'd call Member Accounting (one of the phone options when you call the MS number) and let them know of the resale purchase. They may refer you to Quality Assurance, but it can likely be done with one phone call.

I purchased a resale contract and had it added to my current membership number. As soon as I closed I called Member Services and spoke to member accounting. THey didn't have my paperwork yet but he noted it on my account I also had the contract number for the contract I purchased so he noted it on that contract as well. I was told if it wasn't done that it could be fixed but people on here say they won't fix it. About 6 days later the points showed up in my account.

In order for you to add on to your existing contract, your new contract has to be titled exactly the same as your master contract. The names and form of title have to match. If they don't, you will end up with two master contracts and two member accounts.

ok, this wasn't as simple as I thougt. I called members accounting 2x, got the same person. Not really helpful person. She did suggest I call quality assurance. The person i spoke with there, had no clue what i was talking about told me the bad part about resales is you get 2 member #'s. So I told her I new differently and could i speak to someone else.

She transfered me to someone else and thhis person was helpful. So i fyour in the same position, keep asking around. The final person put a note on my account and if there were any problems they would call me..

At The Timeshare Store, Inc.® the associates ask the buyer if they are a current member. We then explain about buying same use year. If the buyer chooses to buy the same use year and with the exact same names on the deed we let Disney know they are a member when sent for ROFR.

Disney then adds these contracts to their current membership at closing.

i agree with this, however the people over at the title agency didn't get that information correct. I spoke with people at the time share store, and she told me how it needed to be worded. Got the first round of title/escrow stuff, it was wrong. Faxed back the corrected version.

Title stuff for closing comes, names spelled wrong, and not all info we needed was there. Had to send an additional info to get it corrected.

To me the escrow person dropped the ball big time. If i was unaware of what needed to be done from these boards, i would be an unappy camper when I got stuck with 2 member numbers.

If DVC combines them into one contract you will have 123456.002 and everything will be managed thru that one master contract. It does not matter if both purchases are the same resort or not as long as the Use Year is the same and both are titled exactly the same.

Are you saying that if I want to add on to my current AKV contract, I can buy SSR points and add them if they have the same use year and are titled the same way. Who wouldn't want to pay SSR or OKW prices for AKV points? I mean if I have 300 points AKV and want to add 100 SSR points for a total of 400 points....I can do that on the same contract as long as it is the same UY and titled the same way....but I can only still combine them together at the 7 month mark, Right? In other words I cannot have 400 points ready to go at 11 months...I would only have the 300 since AKV is my home resort , I have to wait until the seventh month for the SSR points to work...still using the same member number.

I think I just confused myself. I guess I am trying to find out if it is worth it to add a different non-home resort to your contract...if you can't use it but at the 7th month window....I guess people do it both ways have 2 home resorts ( two separate member numbers then) or add their points up from different resorts and use it at the 7th month mark? Am I understanding these rules?

Why do people add on at different resorts?? Is the incentive to do that the really good resale prices?? Or is there some other knid of benefit. You can have multiple home resorts under the same contract as long as you own some amount of points there??

I own at two different resorts so that I can book at the 11 month window. With some resorts it can be difficult to get what you want if you do not own there and have to call at 7 months. You can only book at 11 months with points from that resort. After the 7 month window, all points are the same.

There points are separate for usage at the 11 month window. If you own 300 AKV points and 100 SSR points, you can book AKV at 11 months with AKV points (borrowing if necessary) and SSR at 11 months. I have one member number that has both home resorts and points listed, you do not need to have different member numbers if the UY is the same. That is why most members that buy resale are looking for the same UY that they have and Disney will only sell you add on points with the same UY as your existing points.

If the VWL contract is titled exactly the same as your first contract, it will be .002. If it's not titled the same, it will be a new master contract and a new member number.

Not exactly. If you buy SSR points, with same UY and title it the same way, it will be added as a 2nd contract to your current membership. It will still be its own contract and the points will still be SSR points. But, at the 7 month mark, those points can be combined with the AKV points to book any of the resorts.

In your case, your 300 AKV points can be used at 11 months at AKV, and SSR 100 points could be used at 11 months at SSR. But, at 7 months, you can call and use all 400 points (without having to transfer points between contracts) for any of the resorts.

When you add on a contract with a different UY (or is titled different), you will get a NEW membership # and can't use those points with your AKV points at the 7 month mark without completing a one per UY transfer.
